    i know i know this is a place for tacos but i have a problem with my wifes 04 ford focus any idea what it could be if you hear a sputter sound comming from up under the hood i think its an exhaust problem but i dont want to take it to the mech shop for them to tell me they need to trouble shoot it for labor fees. it only happens when i am giving it gas and you can really hear it when your driving but its non existant at idle?? Please help!!!!

    clean out the throttle body......sounds to me like its pretty gummed up. add a bottle of techron to the gas tank,as it will take care of the rest of the fuel system. let me know if this works for you. if you get a check engine light anytime soon, im gonna go ahead and say that its your dpfe sensor($45,and only at the dealership).......but try cleaning the throttle body, should take care of it. it happened on my f150,and also on my wifes mustang, and cleaning the tb did the trick. when you do it, use the crc throttle body/intake cleaner...........its good stuff, as is seafoam deep creep.

    I'm 100% sure that your problem is the EGR valve(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) piping that is broken in half. These cars all have the same problem. You need acethylen torch kit usually to change this part.
    Ford should have that part in stock.
