The TRD Sport 17" wheels on my 2009 are a total mess... peeling and chipped paint. I am coming up on needing tires so now would be a good time... I Don't want funky aftermarket wheels or a repeat of all that crappy silver paint that will fail again so I have narrowed it down to 3rd Gen 17 inchers or 4Runner TRD wheels.

I understand that the 4Runner TRDs have a 4mm offset vice the 31mm of my stockers so that will push the wheels out about an inch. Does anyone who has done this convert have some pics from behind that show how the tires line up with the wheel wells? Also, I see these are 7" wide vs my OEM 7.5". Are you using the same size tires as OEM? And will 2nd gen Tacoma TPMS sensors work (I already have a new set waiting) or do you need a different model for the TRD wheels?

The other wheel I am considering is the 17" third gen Tacoma wheel. That should be a direct plug and play, I believe. Correct?

I have FJ wheels on mine and love them. About 2 summers ago I had them "remanufactured" by AWRS (they have locations all over the US). Cost me about $600 total (they were having a sale at the time). They had my truck for 2 days and the price included the refurb of the wheels (acid dip and removal of the powder coating & minor repairs to the wheels), dismount, remount, and balancing. I went with black power coating ILO the OEM silver/gray to give them and aftermarket look.

Ive been happy with the look and finish quality of my 8.5'' wide SCS Wheels. To me they have just the right amount of negative offset without looking tacky. OEM TPMS fits as well.

Here's a comparison shot of when I had the OEM TRD pro 7'' wide wheels. They poke out a little only because a 1'' spacer is installed)

Love the wheels, but hate being held hostage for release dates or spares.

I'm in the same spot. I narrowed it down to T4R TRD wheels or FN FX reps.
I've seen lots of pics of T4R pros on a lot of rigs and they look great with the reduced offset. Poke around the site and you will see them, 1/2" a side seems to still be within the wheel wells. The FNs look even better to me (whole thread of these) with a tad less offset.

As long as you don't go wider than 265s on the the 7" OEM TRD wheel, the consensus seems to be they fit well. For reference, the stock OR wheel is 7" (albeit 16") and comes stock with 265 tires, and it doesn't look weird or anything.

My understanding is OEM TPMS sensors fit any of the wheels we are talking about.

I think I'm going the FN's in matte gunmetal because I want the 8" rim and slight more poke. They seem to be a quality item despite being aftermarket. Proper hub centric design, little bit lighter etc. But you can't go wrong with the TRDs either, my local dealer has them for under $800.

I wanted SCS wheels but wasn't patient enough to wait a year so I went with the FN wheels Countersteer. Nice simple wheel. The best part about them besides the relatively low cost is the offset is nice where the tires barely stick out from the fender so it doesn't look goofy.

Yeah SCS is having trouble keeping stock now. I bought these a few years ago in the before times.

Thanks for the photos guys. These look interesting... 17x8, 15mm offset that splits the difference between the OEM 31 and the the 17x7 TRD offerings with 0 offset. Not quite sure who makes them, I will probably inquire. They seem very similar to the FNs. I like the 8" wide rim better for the 265 tire. Michelin gives a 7 to 8.5" wide wheel range for the LTX M&S which is what I will most likely go with for my "city truck" usage. My last set of those has 62,000 miles and still has some tread left and still have good traction. Pretty impressive.

My entry in the ugly wheel contest... on the plus side I don't have to worry about having them stolen.

I actually just put the OEM 4 runner wheels with 265/70/r17 KO2’s they fit great with no rubbing at all

These are the only pictures I have because I’ve only had them on for about a week.

Those look great. Are those 7" wide or 8" wide? I think 7" would put too much bulge in my road oriented tires.

Another question: which tow eye is that you have? I need one of those.

I believe (but could be wrong) that the genuine Toyota wheels are 7" whilst the clones vary with most being 8".

That could be the case, I did buy my wheels directly from the dealership however so I know that these are 7”.

TRD wheels. I love them. I run 265X70X17 tires. They stick outward at least 3/4 inches further than the stock wheels. The outside of the wheel sidewall is now outside of the fender flare line instead of sucked in:

All these are really nice guys. Thanks for the pics.

Has anyone here got wheels from these guys? I would go with genuine TRDs except I don't want to give up that 1/2" of wheel width (7" vs my 7.5" OEM). These knockoffs come in 8" width which would be better for my mostly on road usage. Price is good but not sure about quality. I'd bet they are Made in China but that isn't really bad all the time anymore. They have them in all the variations... black, satin black, gunmetal, etc. I'd feel better if I knew someone here had tried them and found them satisfactory.
