I’ve only gone through it once riding shotgun in a buddies Jeep. The trail is scary. If you aren’t getting through the rubicon no problem then I’d consider more wheeling before tackling fordyce. Now there are bypasses so if that’s the plan it’s a little different.

we didn't go very far. We didn't make it to the first water crossing since we left camp late and it was going to start raining (actually started to dump hard right when we got back to camp). I think we turned around at the top of the hill before the first water crossing:

from everything I've heard and read, we wouldn't make it very much further than we did. might be able to cross the first crossing if its low but doubt it. I won't take my truck past the first crossing but I'll ride shotgun when @Fernando wants to try and hammer down.

Yeah that part is nothing in comparison to the rest of the trail! But yeah I’ll ride shotgun when @Tof-Corey does it in his 4Runner.

You need dual cases and you need a lot of hard wheeling trail miles to even consider it.

There's only bypasses on winch hills 1,3,5. The bypasses are harder then anything on Rubicon or Dusy(except maybe Thompson Hill). The bypass on winch hill 1 is significantly harder then Little Sluice. I took that bypass because I didn't like my wheel base chances on winch hill 1 proper. I almost rolled on the bypass. lol

The water crossings are the easiest part of the trail. lol

Winch hill 1 proper was so wild.

Yes it is. Scary and intimidating with a very high probability of body damage or flopping. I think 4 is the hardestt though. That thing is fucking gnarly. No bypass and even buggies where getting a workout on it. lol

I’ve never been up 4, we took the river crossing after 3 back to fordyce lake rd and back to camp.
