Don't worry. The bulb seal / hinge combo spaces it out from the frame just right. I thought the same too, but it all worked out!

Been thinking about redoing the fabric portion of my tent. Make it better and remove the curved windows. Kinda cool being able to at least use and camp in mine and make this portion better and swap it out if I want

I still have yet to make some sort of block-off panel for the entrance into the tent portion. I kinda like having it open at night for using the fridge as a nightstand lol. I am thinking I might do a soft block off and make it out of fabric and either use eyelets at hooks or magnets sewed into the fabric. Really it only needs to keep out bugs in the summer when the doors are open and hold up the saggy diaper when the tent is closed.

Curious why you are looking to remove the curved windows? It sounds like that is one of the harder parts to sew, so if there is a functional reason to avoid them I am excited to hear it!

It was my first time sewing anything, so the curved zippers definitely introduced some "bunching" of fabric. Mainly they are a pain in the butt to sew, so if I redo the tent portion in order to make it look better (cause I am picky) I will be removing the curves to make my life easier.

I just got my spaceframe back from the powder coater today. I am going to start final assembly soon and am considering skipping the cork gasket and just using silicone. Thoughts? @Jarman02 didn't you mention something about having siliconed everything and being in the PNW didn't have an issue?

I got a quote here in the detroit area for 250$ all in, but now I am considering to paint it myself, because it is easier to fix and you can add some holes later without paint chipping off.
Not 100% sure tho which direction I should go

Found a shop at the recommendation of a friend that did the whole thing in gloss metallic silver for $200 Cash. This is after I F*&C%ed up the paint job by spraying 2K automotive clear over an incompatible paint underneath. I thought the clear would protect it, but it just caused a problem, which the powder coater was happy to sandblast off and re-coat with what is ultimately a superior finish. I went through all this initially in order to avoid having to lose the time and money that sending it out for powder coat was going to "cost" me. Paid for it twice in this case.... so if you're considering powder coat, I'd say just do it.

Any recommendations for the extruded aluminum? 8020 has the 1545 black, in the lengths and machined ends, but shipping is insane. Been looking in Los Angeles, but can't find a distributor.

I ordered through ALRO, because I buy steel from them but they passed the buck from 8020 to me for shipping. They hit me with an unexpected $496 bill for freight shipping via UPS from Indiana to North Carolina. I was mad to say the least...

This is who I used last summer to buy all my 80/20 products including the extrusion, 3ea cut to 100”. I just cut the front/back 100” pieces in half myself. I think shipping was separate and yes, it was freight (not like UPS/FedEx, etc.) so more than you might expect. Cost of doing business sadly but I had great service from these guys. Mfg. packed perfectly, no damage. Replaced some smaller parts quickly that arrived unanodized. The 1.5x4.5 was $1.5 an inch and the 1.5x1.5 was $0.7 an inch (plus tax). Cuts are about a couple bucks a piece. It was all made to order, shipped from the mfg. so you may not find it stocked locally.

I just found the shipping options they quoted, May 2020 (mfg. ship direct to my house, Phoenix AZ). Correction I did use UPS freight.

How much are they quoting you for shipping? I ordered through 8020 and paid $90 shipped to NC which seemed pretty reasonable given it was two boxes each almost 10 feet long and 50lb or so.

I think this was mentioned somewhere in the past 78 pages, but does anyone know of the website that was posted that will custom cut aluminum sheet/plates if you send them a cad file of what you would like to be cut?

    Thanks

shipping is going to suck regardless because of its size. I just paid $105 to ship my extrusion to FL. It is what it is.
