I modified the ammo boxes because I wanted access to my electric outlet and drivers storage...I removed the sliding drawers...I can store all the components of a PVC pipe shelter I made on the left side and on the right side is a duffle bag with a military sleep system, wool blanket, heavy duty reflective blanket, large heavy tarp to enclose the pvc shelter, a step for the truck and a small tool box...The only weight on the Decked will be my dogs, gear or me sleeping on it.decked1.jpg decked2.jpg decked3.jpg decked4.jpg decked5.jpg decked6.jpg decked7.jpg

I took it down to a local plastics machine shop...I have access to my cubbies, electric outlet and I can still store stuff in the ammo boxes.

Will a deck system that is already on a 2nd gen short bed fit in a 3rd gen shirt bed?

I bought mine used from a guy with a 3rd gen. It fit my 2nd gen to problem. Mine is the LB, so it may be different for SB :notsure:

It just showed up. Going to install tomorrow. Seems like a 2 hr install from what I've read. Any feedback from anyone on install time? I'm up against a snowstorm so I have to get it done quickly.

How thick is the top plastic? I looked into this but was thinking of cutting out cubbie holes with an angle grinder on the cab side like they have for the tailgate side

It's not that thick. I already drilled into it to mount my fridge slide. I'm also going to cut out the side of the ammo can since I have power running over there and need to access it.

Wall to wall carpet...I didn't cut my carpet, it lays over the top of the ammo can...It hides the ammo cans and flips over for easy access...I removed the drawers for more underneath storage...The drawers are too heavy and bulky...I suggested to the company to make a DECKED without the drawers, crickets...I also had the bottom side of the ammo cans cut off so I could have access to the left cubby and the right power box and cubby...Another suggestion to the company. decked2.jpg decked.jpg

    Oh man…
Bold move cotton! That actually sounds pretty cool. You don’t miss the functionality of the drawers though? Maybe one? I’d think getting to stuff all the way in the front would be a pita. My friend has a hooked 1/4” metal rod he uses for grabbing stuff from the front of the bed. With a platform like the decked I’d think everything behind what’s shoved up front would all have to come out just to get to it? That would definitely make you pack smart!

    Oh man…
I’ve really been wanting one of these systems. Emailed the company to see if I could get it shipped with blue top bins instead of tan. I really don’t like tan, at all. The answer I got was they only ship them with the tan lids but I could buy the blue lid boxes to replace them. Little thing I know, but it seems like an easy swap at their end for the customer. Pay that much for something and they can’t make a simple swap like that. Damn man, it’s 2 lids! I dig the system but now I’m in a dilemma because that kinda got under my skin... I guess it depends on how much I want it. Rant over...

Ok so here is my two cents to add to the community. Like many taco decked owner know, it kinda sucks not being able to use your power outlet. Well here is my quick fix. It’s not the prettiest but it my part wasn’t busted already it would look even cleaner. Uses same factory screws and only requires a t30 screw driver and a drill big enough to cut a hole into the decked system.
