    Hell no to all three, especially Barstow...Lancaster and Palmdale just make me think of meth valley desert towns. And its hot as balls there 2/3 of the year

    Tehachapi is at least in the high desert - at 4,000' elevation they get a couple feet of snowfall every winter

    Lake Isabella a little further north has some cheap housing, I also think it may be a little dirt bag for your liking though. I have a friend who lives up there. Lots of dirt roads.

    No she could operate them remotely, her goal was always to get them to where she would need to be involved as little as possible and they are about there. It's not so far away either that she couldn't check in every now and then, just a couple hour drive
