I would imagine mine would be considered slow after all the weight I've added....so I may be in that ballpark  Honestly, it serves my uses well so I'll keep on truckin :D

Okay... quick real fast question. *Hold my beer* what's the maximum dimensions a truck can be? I plan on using wheels outside of my wheel well that are huge... and I want to technically be at the legal limit for what AL allows here for width and height and yeah go ahead and tell me it can't be longer than 40' from bumper to tailgate. :)

I know this is a kind of dumb build but I also plan on putting a very high torque engine in my bed. I really want to use this truck in and around my hunting camp at this point.

Your best bet is to call or run by the local DMV. As far as the motor in the bed. Might as well run a rear cage b/c I don't think the composite bed will do well.

Torque is what you feel from a dead stop or from red light to red light. A 4 wheel diesel truck is a good example.

From a dead stop they seem fast (for a 7,000 lb truck) but after about 30-40 they fall off.

Gotcha. I've always just left my engines pretty much stock. 65 Mustang with Inline 6, 3 Jeeps with a 4.0/4.2, T4R with a 3.0, and the Tacoma with a 4.0...….speed and high HP has never been my thing   I had a GSXR that took care of that for me.

That being said, I did put some goodies in my 79 Wagoneer's 360 when I had it rebuilt(bored .30 over, aluminum heads, intake, Edelbrock carb, long tube headers, etc)...…..just sold it before I ever put it back in and never got to feel it

    GSXR you say?

I’ve had a few GSXR’s over the years. Started on a 2007 600, sold it and snagged a 2005 750, sold that and snagged a R1. Ended up selling it to buy a house.

I figured, I’d played the numbers long enough. It’s not if you crash on a sportbike, it’s when and how bad.

Now I have a taco, basically a big brick going down the road :turtleride:

I bought a 99 600 in 2001 when I turned 21. My wreck came from a Yamaha YZ250. I thought it'd be a good idea to ride one at the lake while drunk. It's a wonder I didn't die. I high sided and the last thing I remember was grabbing my head before I landed on it. Have no clue how long I laid on the side of the road. Those are "Bubba" teeth. Thought it'd be funny :D

When I was in college I worked at a local bike shop. Despite the amount of folks I met one day and attend a their funeral the next I still tempted fate.

It’s hard to explain the attraction and thrill to a non biker. It’s absolutely worth the risk. However it’s the opposite of relaxing. Gotta worry about what you’re doing plus everyone else on the road. I’d love to have another one at some point, if I can convince the little lady.

My last was a DRZ400. I had to sell it b/c work started asking about "extreme hobbies" and would raise my health insurance rate. They haven't asked the last 2yrs, so I'm hoping to grab a middle weight dual sport. I'm liking the Husky 490 and KTM Adventure 490. I'm hoping Suzuki and Yamaha get in on it with the FI ones :D

DRZ 400 is a fun bike! I've toyed with the idea of something similar but for the price of one used I could get a decent R6 or something.

Wow! And you’re still smiling lol

I love dual sports. In high school, my dad let me borrow his TW200 and I got my license at 14. I was the coolest freshman at that school lol if I get another one, it’ll be a drz400 or wr250r

The reason i would get one and it makes sense is that engine was paired with the a340f from the factory so its meant to be with my transmission. No issues wit it lining up or bolting up to my trans or having to buy a whole new drivetrain. Plus its just a damn reliable engine

Plus something i learned is the fuel system for that engine is based off the 4cy so you wouldn't have to change out the fuel pump.
