Very true. I'm looking to buy a 4x4 DCSB SR most likely (unless I can find a killer deal on an SR5/OR), so I won't be getting close to that 40k breakpoint. In regards to the calculator, I've been running numbers through that exact one quite a bit lately :D. It's super useful.

What's your budget? You should for sure be able to get a SR or a Sr5 under 40k any day with ttl and fees. With my TRD OR MSRP was around 39.5k negotiated to 36.8k with ttl and fees it came around 39.5k. (in Texas)

First post for me on here. Found a lot of useful info prior to making my purchase. I’m in metro atlanta so have a handful of Toyota dealers within 50 miles. I was emailing all of them at various points the last few weeks trying to target that 10-12% below MSRP price. Seemed extremely difficult to get even close to that. Closest dealer to me on top of vehicle price + tax adds on what I’ll refer to as “dealer benefits” to the tune of almost 2k (oil changes for life, car washes for life, stuff like that). Basically a money grab. They’d wipe that out but then obviously negotiating on the actual truck price was tough.

Found basically a base white SR5 rwd double cab at a dealer a bit further away. Breakdown of the sticker price attached. I offered 33.5k out the door and they agreed.

Didn’t discuss my trade whatsoever until price was agreed upon. I had an older Honda with almost 200k miles on it and they gave me 3k for it. Shocked. I didn’t think I’d get 3k on the street had I sold it myself (and honesty was praying the entire 40 mile ride to the dealer it didn’t break down haha). Don’t think I got a slamming deal but based on my talks with other dealers that seemed super tight on their prices, I’m happy.

Initially expected to go CPO but the prices are so high buying new seemed like the better play. I plan on driving this thing for a long time, hopefully giving it to my almost 2 year old as a first car. The cheapest CPO in the same configuration within 150 miles was almost 29k with over 60k miles. For me new made sense.

In California, Toyota Financial Services is not currently offering APR deals, but in neighboring western states they offer 1.9% for 60 months, 2.9% for 72 months. Or, if you finance from an outside source, Toyota will give you a $1,000 rebate ($500 in Calif.). In my experience a credit score of 720 or more will qualify for these best TFS rates, so I find it hard to believe other buyers with 790+ scores are not getting them.

Definitely trying to keep the total cost under 40k all said and done ttl and interest. I was originally just looking to get the cheapest DCSB 4x4 that I could, but the best deal I'm seeing on SRs are around 33k. I've seen some TRD ORs for right around 36k, so it seems silly not to just pay the extra 3k if that's all it's going to cost. If I got an SR I'd end up spending some money on wheels and stuff anyways. OR would keep me from needing to do that.

Surprised that SE Toyota is offering 0% APR on Tacoma's for 48 months. I would jump on that if you can cut a good discount.

I know but I suspect they aren't discounting the trucks much especially with such low inventory.

Agreed, it's drastically a different Tacoma market today than it was a few years ago when ~10% off MSRP was the standard in my AO.

Read an article in the paper this morning that Ford and some other manufacturers have sucjh a shortage of PCBAs and components for a lot of the computerized features that they are still running assembly lines, shipping trucks to dealers, and then the dealers will install the computer parts. It is either that or stop production 100%. Article referenced a few otehr makers as well, including Toyota. They did not say if Toyota was following the same strategy.

And this article specifically mentions the Tacoma plant in Mexico is being affected by plastic shortage due to the recent past winter storms.

Tacoma2.jpg Tacoma.jpg Just picked up a 2021 Voodoo Blue TRD Off Road with the leather upgrade, tech package and bed lights. MSRP was 44147 purchased for 40715. I feel like I got a reasonable deal.

Just ordered a black 2021 AT TRD OR at the dealership with black tube steps, blackout package, technology package, cargo bed light, and 6’ bed for 43,500 TTL. Basically at MSRP with TTL, a little more than I really wanted to pay but they’re the only dealership in town with one coming in the near future.

Is the premium package the one with the leather seats? If so, what do you think of them? I got the fabric seats since I thought leather might be too hot in the summer in a black car and the dealership wanted 2k for the leather seats.
