Don't underestimate her. My daughter learned to ride on my Indian scout. I made her take and pass a riding course before getting on the road first. She has no fear, which does worry me a bit.

Yes it does, lol. Ive never found the dirt to be easier but maybe i crash harder

Last time out i did hit the ground at 15mph or so
I have a bell moto 9. Id probably try a leatt/aviator/klim/ls2 helmet next
Skip a dual sport for real offroad. They dont move enough air at all

I have a Scorpion AT950 and like it for its versatility but...see below.

^^^Agreed. If you're on more dirt I would stick to a helmet/goggle combo. With my AT950 I didn't feel much, if any, in the difference of air flow from the "open/closed" chin and forehead vents. I feel like I would be riding with my visor up(sun shade down) to get more air at lower speeds. I may be taking my MTB helmet for putting around camp this summer.

yeah, i'd definitely have her take a riding course. mine has no fear either. Bombs down the hill when we snowboard. has been doing that ever since she started.

her: edge? turns? what's the fun in that?!

Paasch just hanging back like a shark until it was time to strike.

It always blows my mind how big the skill gap is (gp and moto) between the top ~6 riders and the rest of the entire pack.

The visors will just collect dirt offroad too. Goggles will really be the only way to keep dust out of the eyes since they are foam sealed.

Some people have been using mtb helmets. Those downhill guys do some crazy stuff and only wear those. Itd be tempting but not sure i could completely trust it.

More mods this morning to get ready for riding season. Had my rigg gear bag rip off the bike when I put it into a tree last season, so I am going to install it properly by bolting it to the rack. Welded up a new plate to the rack this morning so I can put 4 bolts through the pack like it was intended to be installed on the fender.

It's sad when your welds look better than factory.

Also installed this bicycle mirror @Wheelspinner showed me to get rid of the massive mirror that I always fucked up offroad.

Let me get used to having a real clutch again first in the pines where I won't smash myself up on rocks. :p

    thats lost trails right?
would you say too rocky for attempting it on the dot original/factory tires and no skid yet??

my 14 year old cousin recently got a new yfz450 and is hounding me to take him up there, hes also a relatively new rider and I've never been to the lost trails yet so trying to learn more about the place before convincing my aunt/uncle to let me take him, seen plenty of youtube vids and pics but that stuff usually makes it look easier than in real life

ive never played in the rocks on a bike, looks a little frustrating compared to the average ripping around that I am used to

I wouldn't advise it without a skid, especially the TOTW trail. A lot of the other trails you might be alright but that one I had the bike resting on the skid several times. Lots of smaller rocks that get kicked up into the motor too. If you aren't used to rocks it's probably a good place to start through, a bunch of easier trails like Rausch has. I just followed Steve around all day lol.

Anyone in here interested in two sets of Biltwell Norman pegs? Didn’t know if there’d be enough interest to start a new thread.

The tires aren’t so much the issue, but the stock tubes are paper thin, I run tires with 6ply sidewalls and Michelin UHD tubes and knock on wood havent had an issue. Even bent a rim down at Hatfield and McCoy’s last fall and didn’t get a flat. That being said lost trails is extremely rocky, there are a couple trails that aren’t bad but you run out of those quick. Take that with a grain of salt too because 90% of my riding is rocks so the not so bad trails to me there might be really rocky to others lol. I also recommend a good skid plate, this was my bike with 5 hours on it and 0 coolant at lost trails. Next day I got a wrap around skid and a tube of steel stick to keep in my pack

I have the factory skid plate on my wr450 its plastic but it has taking a good beating. Its pretty stout. But I plan on buying a aluminum one
