Very true on the duration of the product. These sealants say they last months or even up to a year. I have used so many and none of them last that long especially if your vehicle is parked outside 24/7. I start to notice less beading at about a month sometimes less.

That's where a good paint depth gauge comes into play so you know what you are really working with

I definitely appreciate the info! You seem to know quite a bit. What's your opinion on Nu Finish car polish? I haven't tried it in years, but was thinking about using it this spring.

About 36 PSI. I'll always keep the drum brakes in the back, as most of the braking is done up front anyway. But adding SS lines in the back for consistency isn't a bad idea. Especially since it would be a pretty cheap mod compared to the full replacement.

Thought I'd hop into this convo.

My truck was leased & I'm assuming lived on a dirt road because when I bought it with 60k miles the paint was in ROUGH shape. It took me awhile to finally decide to get it professionally done, but I'm so glad I did.

I paid a detailer to decon & do some paint correction, after that she installed P&S Inspiration SOLE which is a ceramic coating that is easier than others to put on. It's marketed as a ceramic coating "topper" but can be used as a stand alone product if you aren't into dropping $1k plus every 5 years for a coating.

She reccomended due to the shape my paint is in for me to go over it with sole every 6 months to build up a layer of protection. There's youtube videos of it being installed and one of the reasons we chose it is because it's easy enough for me to do myself. Worth looking into!

On the 2021s there’s a knee airbag there.

I just did the same earlier this week! Also got the same $50/off deal on Amazon, can't beat that. The sound was definitely the big selling point for me... even have the TRD intake accelerator on the way to waste even more money. :anonymous: In my defense, it's still a lot cheaper than the other intakes out there - a lot of which aren't even true cold air intakes since they're so open to the engine bay.

Just by looking at the stock tube (with resonator) beside the K&N replacement, I thought there must be a weight savings as well. So of course I got out the handy dandy digital fish scale and compared them. Well, the difference is VERY slight... stock tube at 2.05lbs and the K&N at 1.41lbs. So unlike 95% of the mods in this thread, this doesn't increase weight at all!

Now would be a good time to throw some vinyl on there to prevent that glare...

Right, I forgot about that. My 2017 has one as well now that you mentioned it.
I have a Reese controller installed in that same place but I'm only 5'8' so it does not get in the way for me usually. One thing I did when mounting it was have the side screws not fastened tight against the bracket so if I did bump getting out it just pivots on the screws.

Yeah. I’ll look into different options right now. Wonder if I’ll hit my knee if it’s on the right side

Not good ones. But here is one, you can tell it's pretty dull.

I also added a picture of the beading today (first time it's rained/been wet since I got it done)

No rubbing at all. Obviously this is a city picture but even when flexed I don’t have any issues. I can get a true “side” profile later on when I get off if you want

I had always heard about the sport hood glare, but it wasn’t until I drove a rental with the scoop that I realized how intense it can be. Driving west at sunset was absolutely miserable.

X-Tech Grille. Or was that X-Tec? Wait, no. Now they've changed the name to X-Trek.
Okay, several name changes and purchased and deleted urls later, I finally found the original thread and new website. Took a while to track down. The pro grilles are overdone imo. And when I purchased this one, it was less than $100 used. Not sure what the odds of finding another used one are though. This is a lesser known product. Or, at least it was until this post
