Strip earth magnets stitched into the layers of the bottom Velcro part of the back window (in their own hand stitched sections) makes for a great mod and works like a champ keeping the back window magnetized through the soft Velcro to the top of the tailgate...and it doesn’t scratch

This is probably only a problem in the very moist NW, but one thing of note here to consider with magnets or even the stock velcro, the better seal of the rear flap will keep in moisture. A few times, esp after camping back there, I am happy to get some air circulation through the bottom of the rear flap.

Even in cool temps, I found that it airs out pretty quickly.

I'm thinking about getting a softtopper for trips and such, so it wouldn't be on the truck permanently. Most of the third brake light options I've seen are wired in at the tail light housing. Has anyone tried wiring something up that would just plug into the 4 pin trailer plug? I'm looking for something that will be easy to remove without tapping into the factory wiring. I couldn't find anything like that, so thought I would ask.

Heck yeah. You could use the 4pin connector or use a tee harness that goes in between the trailer outlet connectors on the under side.

I think that most of us have a disconnect on the brake light tap. Just a simple SAE connector like you see for battery tenders gets the job done.

It looks like you'll never find the end of @Puppypunter 's pigtails. Some great ideas coming out of that hole.

Compared to the current Trail Edition or the strange issues with the factory tonneau? Hahaha!
