Alright, finally thinking about buying a mechanic stand. For you guys that have experience or have been around multiple brands.

Which do you prefer?
I would buy Park Tool, but I think they import the bike stand anyways so I’m willing to pay more for USA manufactured if reasonable.

 

I have this one, I like it a lot. Don’t thinks it’s USA though.

I got a pro g3 from performance before they shut down. Collapses and is pretty portable. I like the ones that have a twist to tighten around the post or whatever rather than the ones that clamp shut. Discontinued but other brands make similar ones

I normally think ratings are sandbagged a little to keep beginners out, however, that is not the case on this trail. I thought at first it was just due to the exposure level but then you get to the backside where it drops down things get serious. I would say lots of rock gardens into semi big drops but it all feels off camber which just crushes my confidence. Plus you have to link up several of these sections to make it out because you won’t be able to stop once you start. Sorry for the lack of photos of the gnar. I was too busy trying to get down...by foot.

Can confirm... Steep, technical, exposed at times, and other parts the most fun, flowy trail I've ever ridden. Absolutely LOVE this trail

I have the Bikehand as well. The clamps tend to slip with heavier bikes, but its not bad.

I got this for my Dad this Christmas. Better than my Bikehand and my buddies Park Tool PCS 9.2 in every way. The Feedback has much more stability with the three legs, and all the clamps are higher quality. Collapses to around the same size as the Bikehand. They also support cool people like Syd and Macky, which earns brownie points in my book.

 

I’ve got this feedback sports stand as well. I’ve had it for like 2 or 3 years and it’s still good as new. Idk if it’s made in the US but it’s a US company. If you’re an REI member the coupon just came out today.

 

What do you mean by clamps slip? I haven’t had this issue and want to know what to look out for.

 

Good discussion on bike security, about a couple days late to the lock discussion but better late than never. The whole stand will start tipping forward as the clamp holding the legs extended doesn't have enough force on the main pole. I have to retorque the adjusting nut and clamp down to a a degree in which I feel like the plastic is going to eventually snap. It usually only happens with my DH bike or if I put a lot of force/torque on a bike like breaking free crank bolts etc.

Its usually a pretty slow slide and has never been catastrophic, but it can be a pain when your whole project slumps down on the floor.

 

Oh interesting. Yeah I def haven’t had anything like that. I thought you meant the clamp holding the bike would let the bike slip out of it.

I always clamp mine horizontally on my top tube so haven’t had any worries there either.
