Met this guy at a Cars and Coffee yesterday; 1996 Tacoma with only 112K miles! He bought it used from a dealer in Delaware in 2001, and just doesn't have the heart to get rid of it even though he's married with kids and it just isn't practical. The truck is a 2.7L/5-speed with 4WD and the SX trim; It has A/C (ICE COLD), tilt wheel, intermittent wipers, and an AM/FM cassette. He plans on adding a modern stereo with Bluetooth, as well as a backup camera. This is one of the cleanest early 1st Gens I've seen in a very long time!

Every so often, I come across a Taco unique enough that I feel it’s worth of getting it’s own post before I get it merged with the “Tacoma Stalking” thread...

This is just such a Taco! 2000 RC stepside/sportside 2.4L/5-speed with only 123k miles!

Very basic truck with only A/C and a cassette player; A/C works great! This is also a rust-free California truck!

The guy said he paid $7,000 for it and refuses to sell it; Also, I'm pretty sure this truck was a special order because it has the stepside bed...

Base model 5-lug RC Tacos with a 5-speed millennial anti-theft device, and no options other than A/C and a cassette player, are probably the most common configuration; However, that is if they have the regular bed! I've seen plenty of 2001-2004 6-luggers with the stepside bed, and possibly one 5-lugger from that era, but this is definitely the first pre-2001 model I've ever seen!

 

A stepside on a truck is as useless as tits on a bull

 

Yeah, but it's still cool looking, and I photographed it due to the rarity...

 

Can't say I've ever seen one of those. Are those fenders fiberglass?
