My father is in town for a minor surgery on Monday. Took him in my double cab out to the trails after all that snow last month. I've never seen it that bad in the past 4 years. At one point to avoid rocker panel damage I had it up on two wheels. Had to ask him to get out and spot me even though his mobility is limited. Hadn't done that with him since ~2006 in his TJ.

This is the kind of shit we all deal with; some of us more often than we care to say.

Yesterday 10 minutes before our big meeting -

Mass email stating to have all your notes/explanation for the items on the heat sheet.

Few minutes later, I'm being asked about a $10k down payment, guess the business office manager was now stricken with panic.

Me, who never met the customer, and didn't know there was any amount for any customer missing, now is being asked about it.

Text 2 people who worked that day and dealt with said customer; one replies with "it was 3 weeks ago, I can't remember but I'll call the customer right now if I need to." Here I'm like..it's your day off...not necessary.

I'm about a minute away from calling the customer myself until the business office is like "oh we put the wrong customer number in accounting te-he-he-he OOPS"

    Wtf :frusty:

That's pretty cool, I love using Gaia and downloading maps for when there's no receiption.

Did you successfully create said route because it's already a 'road' or did you manually draw it out?

Some of the trails I hit don't allow waypoints to connect and create a route. This has happened throughout different paths in Los Padres NF.

Yeah they just likely forgot which room they were in and asked me to page the wrong one, but of course when I do reach them there's no point in saying 'you know you said 306 the first time' because they will deny it lol. And then I'm in a pissing match with someone where no one wins

The biggest headache I deal with here is people trying to relay information to others through others...so it's like a constantly devolving game of telephone. By the time it reaches me, it's all twisted and when I call someone to confirm, either I or someone else along the line gets chewed out for not getting the right info.

JUST BRING IT DIRECTLY TO ME FFS

One of these days I want to get a device exclusively for mapping and following trails mounted up inside the truck, the few times I've messed with it on my phone it just gets frustrating trying to follow on a tiny screen. Get like an old iPad or something and mount it up

$700 is actually less than I was thinking before I looked it up, usually something marketed with Overlander has a minimum $1k price hike

Some people just use a tablet, which I did for a short bit leaving it on the seat.

I did use my phone when I had a phone mount in the Tacoma; but yeah the screen is too small to really be practical.

You could go with an Android based headunit like @xtremewlr did.

    How so?

Google maps or Waze is used often by lots.

I use google maps for navigation while on road via android-auto.

Location may suck, but unless you sit close to the steering wheel...I don't see it being an issue.
