You have a few things working against you currently. There is the SAFE handgun roster of California. For a new purchase, you will be limited to something on this list. CA gun stores will let you know what you are allowed to buy. However, inventory is lean. If there is something you are specifically wanting or looking for, you may not find it.

    https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/search

Under normal, pre-COVID circumstances, I would recommend hitting up a range that offers rentals. However, due to COVID protocols, I do not believe any Bay Area ranges are renting. Therefore, you are kinda stuck. I think in this climate, you will need to dig for some info online AND make some phone calls unless someone on this forum can make a recommendation of what is in stock and where.

If you do happen upon something you like, you will at the very minimum need the following:

    - FSC card - You will need to take a written firearms test on site. https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/hscsg.pdf
    - You will need CA Real ID, or passport.
    - Proof of residency such as car registration or utility bill.

Your address on ID should be your current physical address and match the proof of residency or it will cause you some problems.

The process is #3 on this list. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs...t provide, plus successfully complete a safety

Good luck, but don't give up. You SHOULD exercise this right.

Reeds indoor range in Santa Clara. Give them a call, as they have a bunch of firearms available to rent, and get a feel for. As noted above, they might not be letting people rent for the time being, so call ahead.

    Good luck!!

I do believe that you would have to get the P320 through PPT from LE that purchased off roster with LEO exception in California. It is not on CA Roster.

Or someone who moved into CA with one or was gifted one from a child/parent/grandparent who lives out of state.

Either way, not easy to get your hands on. And second hand markets will command a 100%-over-MSRP markup for just the most basic version of a P320.

Oh no doubt that the average CA resident will have to pay the absurd premium to get one. It's on my wish list but that CA price is hard to stomach

Bruh I would have one if I could. Like the guys above mentioned, not a roster gun. And the people that have em tend to hang in to em

    I picked up a SP2022, 9mm. Im enjoying it so far:quickdraw:

This is a way but the LEO community visibility is very high as there was abuse around this and can be a trigger when in review. Most LEO's would not risk multiple PPT's over their career, especially when they have a LEO buddy who is always willing to swap/trade/sell with.

The easiest way when the criteria for out of State intra family can be met. NOTE: does not include sibling to sibling.

Wait for the covid price spike to return to normal and PPT then. There will be many categories of items for purchase at reasonable/loss prices when people would rather eat out and go to movies as opposed to looking at a handgun they can't buy ammunition for, they paid top dollar for, don't know how to use and didn't really want sitting in a drawer.

Anyone been into SJ Bass Pro lately? My friend has had some good luck getting 5.56 green tips, 9mm, and .45 for an ok price. He said the 5.56 was around .60/round. before taxes. Best price I’ve heard of in a while

Yeah Bass Pro and Sportsman's Warehouse are where I've been getting all my ammo for decent prices. Military discount is good on it too

Good to know, I'll have to head there and see what I can snag. Do you know if they have a typical day they restock? Or is it more of a show up and pray?

I don't know the days. I've been told it's random or that it was supposed to be one day but has been delayed or whatever. SJ BP restocked on Wed this week though based on posts I've seen elsewhere.

    I thought M&P Shield was always 10+1?

this new version “plus” has 10+1 and 13+1
