Is this an issue for a 3.5 BS 16" wheel?

Hey mr @81Trekker i got a technical/ design question for you. Your rear sua setup allows the shackle to swing forward past vertical at full droop as seen here. C59B4843-C6FC-4238-95B8-4E2707F1C82F.jpg

I’ve been reading up on some old articles, builds, leaf spring design stuff, and talking to an old desert racer buddy as I decide if I am wanting to rework my rear hangars and flip my shackles to ditch the low hanging rear hangers.

I’ve seen a few times and my buddy really emphasized that it is very important to not allow the shackles to cross vertical as you run the risk of the shackle flipping up and moving in the wrong direction. Curious what your thoughts were on this concern?

My guess is its limit strapped so the shackle doesn't flop (limit strap not pictured)

He said in the past that they aren’t running limit straps because the leafs are the limiting factor.

Good to know I guess I'll be making another call to bora to get some 1/4" spacers made when I swap wheels.

The angle of the pic makes it look way more extreme than it is, the shackle angle is a non issue. If you’re super paranoid then you could strap it

Steel if you're going to hit rocks. Aluminum if you will be hitting sand.

I have 3.5bs 16” wheels and never have had a problem. That being said now on 35s I rub my limit strap a little.

just wanted to say this is one of the most interesting threads on here. and the posts arent as dumbass'ed as a lot of the others. super jealous. had one of your kits pop on our local buy and sell and well ... i had just welded in the marlin cam tab gussets. i wouldnt be going long travel but knowing how bulletproof this is for midtravels is definitely tempting. thanks for the entertainment guys

I don't think the +4 kit should be an issue because the lower shock mounts are still in the same spot but the wheel is further out
