I mounted permanently so didn't want to use tie downs, and drilling holes in the bottom of case also provided a little security since a thief would have to somehow open/get into the case to take the nylock nuts off to remove the case from the carriage bolts/rack.

The Roam boxes are designed to accept Yeti cooler tie-down options. For example, there's a Yeti bracket that can be used with a locking cable. Like everything Yeti, these accessories are pricey.

Yes that’s exactly it; the Tacoma prinsu is 47” inside-inside.
If you need longer for the Land Cruiser, Yakima bars come in 48”, 58”, 66”, and 72” (if I remember correctly) so just get one longer than you need and cut it down.

What the best way to attach a harness that crosses from the driver's side to the passenger side? Black zip ties around one crossbar, with the harness underneath? I think that will be problematic for sliding mounts from side to side, zip ties will get in the way. Maybe mounts are not moved around that much?

My Baja S1 lights are at the rear of the Prinsu rack, on both sides. Harness comes up the driver's side windshield. The S1 lights are switched together.

You could use something like these. Slide 3-4 1/4" carriage bolts in the rail (facing down), route the wiring and bolt these on. Or if just some self tapping screws right into the bar instead of carriage bolts. Or even something like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TE30LUI

Try these. They clip into the underside T slots and you can run a zip tie through the clip to go either sideways or front to rear

I like that right up to the point where they want US$45 to ship ten of them to Canada! I am going to look in the McMaster Carr catalog and see what's there.

    EDIT: these look the same

Further EDIT: I located them for $2 each plus shipping at:

    Canoe specifically?

Not kayak as they usually transport differently with mounts etc. Canoes have to be upside down

Tried looking through but couldn’t find much. Any recommendations on axe/shovel mounts for the side of the rack? Don’t mind putting one on each side if need be

It looks like the standard military pioneer tool rack would fit on top of the Prinsu.

Dude. First. Awesome write up. Second I just ordered the punches because I love how clean yours turned out. I also bought my rack from a TW member. Im not sure it needs painted but I definitely plan on giving it a good clean up. I have ordered the wind deflector with a 40" cutout as well.

Thanks so much for this write up!

Has anyone made or found a mount that would work for mounting fishing rods or more specifically surf fishing rods on their Prinsu?

Anybody running this rack without the fairing? I love the rack but not a big fan of the big fairing on the front. I was thinking of moving the first crossbar as far to the front as possible and removing the fairing altogether. I'm sure the noise will pick up a little, but I can handle that as long as it's not a whistle.

Not a prinsu, but a similar design. I installed a different brand rack for a friend and had to leave the fairing off due to a missing piece. He said it was the loudest thing ever and absolutely horrible until he got the fairing back on. Wouldn’t recommend.

That's what I was afraid of. I guess I'll stick with the fairing for now, or maybe it'll grow on me since it's such a drastic change in appearance from the slick top. I saw a picture of one on here awhile back of someone running it without the fairing and it looked pretty good.
