Depending on who gets out first, my neighbor or I clear the hydrant. Technically, the FD is supposed to do that, but there are no fire fighters on our block, so we make sure it's done. The same neighbor will also clear off my roof edges with his roof rake after he's done his.

Same same, I'm lucky in terms of the neighbors on each side..older but just do their thing. Not nosey at all.

I just had a tree cut down that was on the line, Town Hall's plans didn't clarify whose it was. I showed it to the neighbor and he said "doesn't matter, we'll just split the estimate you got already". I told the tree guys drop all the stuff on my side since he has a nice lawn and I don't. The neighbor on the other side is cutting the fallen wood and taking it for his wood stove. Teamwork.

My kinda people. I offered that we could have a survey done of the land but he said "nah let's just go halfsies". In fairness it was dropping more on my side and he knew it, I already had a limb damage my truck. Other hand his electric feed was 6 feet away from the base so if anything drops there (cringe)

The guy on the other side is into bikes as well..the local dump saves them for him, he repairs them and donates to underprivileged kids. Once he and I learned about each other's love of 2 wheels we swap parts, tools, etc..and the dump guys have given me stuff to bring him

How important is it to “rust proof” your truck ? Important, but not that important. Depends on how bad a snow season it is and how much access you have to a hose and or carwash to get all the road salt off the truck, also whether or not you're in a garage or street parking. If you're street parking and not rinsing the undercarriage a good deal, then its well worth it to get the undercarriage lined. Not crazy expensive over here either.

What type of off roading do you guys have ? Woodland trails?
Some trails in western MA for sure, and NH etc. A few great drive-on beaches not too far out of the city that are a blast I the offseason when theres no one out. Can bomb around like Mad Max.

How terrible is summer humidity and heat ?
Not that bad, if you're used to heat year round you're fine. After a long winter, humidity and heat are warmly welcomed. If anything it will make you appreciate winter and vice versa and also motivate you to get out on the ocean and or mountains/trails on the weekends to escape the city heat.

Can you still hike / mountain bike in winter?
Yeah absolutely, on mild days or weeks with no snow you totally can. Its great, it just means less traffic on the trails.

What is fishing like for fresh water and ocean?
Fishing is insane! Not a big fisherman myself, but theres a reason its called Cape Cod! Tons of saltwater fishing just about everywhere you go, from charter tuna trips, to surfcasting off the beach for striped bass and bluefish. Freshwater has copious amounts of largemouth bass etc. Places to freshwater fish all over the place. Have a lot of friends that have a cheap kayak or row boat and they bring a cooler of beers and row out and land fish everytime they go out.

Not great responses but hope it helps. Mass is great, Boston is awesome.

Welcome to Taxachusetts, where they will tax you on everything. Should live in NH and just commute over the border

    Seaport options for commuting.
    1) Rail—Amtrack or commuter rail. Commuter rail can bring you in from the suburbs of southeast Mass. You can find woodsy, rural in this area. Follow the Interstate highway 95 to look at this area. South Station is the closest rail for Seaport.
    2) Subway. In Boston it’s called the T. Mostly above ground. Think of the T lines as spokes on a wheel. Park at a T stop and come into Boston proper.
    3) Highway. Traffic and more traffic. Drive to a T parking lot and take the T in.

A lot of suggestions for commuting in from the North. Drive to the T or Amtrack rail to commute into Boston.
Boston is a great city with restaurants, museums, colleges and hospitals. The housing market is a sellers market now.

I agree, i live in Massachusetts, and i wouldn't drive in Boston to save my life, especially during baseball season. parking is outrageous in town, do what they tell you, Take the T, you can go anywhere on the T, get yourself a Commuter Rail Card. and enjoy the ride.
