Uh oh. I ordered an Evo A.

Boxes are all marked Evo a.

No side glass, solid metal panel?

Got it out of the box, stopped there, and thought WTF?

 

I'm confused, what's the issue?

 

I screwed up and ordered the wrong thing! Damn it

Sport is what I SHOULD HAVE Ordered.

 

Evo a has black metal panels with molle panels on the inside. Evo sport has glass panels with windows.

 

You ordered the wrong one man, the one you have is the EVOa. The glass side panel with the window is the EVO sport.

Figured out how I screwed up so badly.

Damn it, I'll be kicking myself over this idiotic blunder for some time.

 

Maybe find two people with sports and swap one panel for glass with each. I’m sure there are people that wanted one of each

 

That's not a terrible idea, it looks like the doors may be one size fits all too (6' and 5'). I think people with the camp kitchen would definitely be interested in a solid panel.. I might be interested myself just for molle on one side and dogs on the other.

I'd be willing to meet up and see too, I have taken off my rear window before, it's pretty easy. Just 4 bolts and a pry tool to pop out the gas struts.

 

The Evo Sport is definitely the glass gullwing sides and the Evo A is the solid panel gullwing sides with interior molle panels. So you got what you ordered, but ordered the wrong thing?

 

That's what I asked ORA to do but they cannot. OEM only sells them as Adventure or Sport - they don't/won't mix doors. But man would I like a sport door on passenger side.

Ya, my screwup.

I was thinking there were two styles, but three. Got confused looking at the website.

Your web person needs to update that page. Kicking myself as it was my screw-up.

 

Can you clarify if the harness just fixes the reversed polarity discussed, or if it also features a 3rd pin so that the tail light is still receiving power? I'm not sure I've seen a post that indicates that the new harnesses address both issues.

If your harness isn’t working just submit the claim and get the new harness. It’s super easy, takes less than 60 seconds and then RSI will send you the correct one. If you ordered from us, shoot me a PM with your order number and I’ll gladly submit one on your behalf.

 

Installed mine on my truck today. Also added Gecko LEDs.

 

Yeah man, you already got me covered and I appreciate it. I just wanted some additional clarity on RSI's fix, specifically, and I figure everyone else out there that either has the current harnesses or is contemplating this cap would appreciate it as well.

As I understand it, there are two distinct problems: 1, the polarity of the wires are reversed and 2, the Y-harness that RSI provides is a 2 pin connector, which results in the driver's side taillight being bypassed. So my question for anyone who can provide it is this: When we make a warranty claim with RSI to get the correct harness, does it address problem 1, problem 2, or both problems?

In other news, I got my cap installed today. Couldn't be happier so far. Well, aside from the wiring harness.

My takeaways are as follows:

1. MK3 Supra's make decent staging areas due to the long hood.
   
2. The foam makes getting the side panels into position a giant PITA.
   
3. I should have probably made sure my torque wrench was calibrated
4. The tripod bed light doesn't really help much. Oh darn, guess I need to bump the bed lighting kit up on the priority list.

Super pleased.

 

So I just recvd my new wiring harness today. Took about 5mins to swap. To answer your question for my 2021 the new harness solved all harness problems: 1& 2; Polarity is correct and it's 3 wire so lights work to spec now.

Thanks ORA - filed warranty, and Thanks RSI - Fedex'd new harness.
