Boomer's "faux" TRD Pro shift knob illumination mod(Tacoma and Tundra)

If you wanted to control the light output you could connect to the illumination circuit instead of the 12v accessory wire harness in the rear centre console.
I can make a single input wire harness but the cost is only $5 less. The idea of dual input is one input connects to the accessory circuit and the other can connect to the flashing security light circuit in the dash. That way the LED flashes when the truck is off.

 

You would need to remove the MT shift knob and compare to an AT shift knob. If designed the same then I'm sure it can be done.
Post some pics here and can see if others have any feedback on this question.

 

This is what he explained to me about the 1x vs 2x. I would personally only use the 1x but for $5 the second option doesn’t hurt anything.

re: 2x input
1x input from the 12v wire harness in the rear centre console- full on when truck is in Acc mode
1x input(optional) from the securityflashing light on the dash- flashing whentruck is off with doors locked or unlocked

 

This is an example in red.
#1 input is from Acc circuit.

No, the opaque TRD clip-in is designed and sold by MESO only.
I build the wire harnesses and complete shift knob mod with wire harness to utilize this awesome idea.

Update: all the partial and full kits I provide DO come with the MESO opaque TRD clip-in. I appologize for the confusion.

 

Fwiw straw hat (flat top) leds have a 60 degree beam vs the 30 degree output of round ended leds. Smd leds have even wider flux patterns.

MESO has them for sale although I don't know how many they have in stock. I have decided to utilize this opaque TRD clip-in piece and build DIY wire harnesses as well as partial PnP "faux" TRD shift knob kits.

 

Can you explain the bi-color?

 

I have done a tri-colour LED install for myself but am not offering it as a retail product because it was a huge PITA.

I have not done a bi-colour yet but am quite sure I can without too much an issue. The idea is to have 2x power inputs. For example, using the Blue/ Red LED you can have the Blue portion of the LED illuminate when the truck is on by connecting to the accessory circuit and have the Red portion of the LED illuminate by connecting to the security circuit that flashes on the dash.

 

Will the bi-color be available in a DIY kit for $50 also?

 

Truth, choose your 12v+ for when it goes on and use dimmer ground on any of those to get dimming.
Edit- put a diode inline with both inputs and you can have both on the same led if you want.

 

Fyi, the custom wire harness that I build has a diode on both "+" inputs.
