Just talked to a customer who used to work on saws and ask him if he had an old bar, chain, and bell with a sprocket and showed him what I want to do. He said I’ll just bring you a whole blown up saw and you can get what you need :bananadance:

E0F3040C-3066-4910-96D4-1492B2C4EAAE.jpg Here’s a finished part/blank for a tap handle I’m making. I got the idea from the this old Tony YouTube channel. I think I’ll make some Christmas presents out of them.

Did you cut that one with a taper attachment or free hand it? Looks great either way

thanks Shane! This one I cut using the compound set at 3 degrees and just cut it till I touched the knurls where I wanted. I dont have a taper attachment but man that would make it easy!

Just checking in to make sure I’m normal. Y’all have that one friend of your wife that seems to constantly judge you because you don’t fit the “norm”?
That ones visiting now and I’m not feeling fit to my own skin.

Also may just fire a couple shots across the bow on the way out also, so that Karen has a reason to not like me.

Looks good. The you tube thing reminded me of a book I've been interested in called the machinist bedside reader. Priced them several years ago but never bought one.
On those knurled ends, I ended up ordering some new cutting wheels for that tool, a few different sets. It made a huge difference in the finish. Set of coarse and fine.
