The front seats in my Taco just plain suck and always have. Though the truck is in wonderful condition and with only 65k mi. on it, I'm really considering getting rid of it just because of the crappy seats. I have an RX 350 where the seats are friggin great. Anybody got any ideas on changing out and/or upgrading the seat(s)? I make fairly regular 4 hour round trips to fish and, especially on the way back, my back screams at me about the seat. When I make the same trip in the RX my back asks me why I can't put as comfortable a seat in my Taco. Does anyone know if the 2nd gen TRDs have better seats then the SR5s? Thoughts? thanks in advance

Do you have seat jackers? @EasyDoesIt makes some real nice ones. They raise the front of the seat an inch and a quarter and improve comfort a lot by doing so.20210221_110642.jpg

I'll second the seat jackers above. I'm a tall guy with back problems and they helped immensely on long drives.

So I went from a 08 base to a 12 TX pro trd and the 12 has way better seats in my opinion. Not sure if the seats are different other than the side bolsters?
(Sport and off road) Have them I believe.
I have not done anything over about an hr with the 12 yet.
Never really considered the seat jackers.
    Maybe I should?

Also, pretty sure without seat jackers you will have the same issue with TRD seats. Nothing is as cheap or simple as seat jackers because if you replace the seats you have to do the wiring mod for the airbag sensor. And seats aren't cheap. Try out a good quality seat jacker which you can easily sell of it doesn't work for you (I bet it will). If you want a test, while the truck is stationary, remove the front seat bolts, loosen the back, and raise the front 1-1/4" with some wood or something and snug up the back bolts. Just sit in it, without driving, and I am sure you will feel a big difference. Don't drive obviously for safety reasons. If you want a link, shoot me a message.

Do you feel a gap under the front of your thigh while driving, if so, see above...

WOW! they look great. Comfort wise, how would they compare to stock? About how much $/effort did you have to invest?

Way more comfortable than stock as long as you are a bigger guy. I actually got a sweet deal on these and traded my factory seats for them from a friend of mine ... that friend got them from a guy who did all the wiring to make the airbags plug and play.

I have a 2005 and agree the seats are not great. I'm considering picking up some seats from a newer 2nd gen(12-15) and swapping them. Just wondering how challenging the wiring/airbag part of the swap will be.

I’ve had 2 09’s, a 13 and now my 14. The seats to me all seem the same. It should be an easy swap however. I’d imagine that the sensors are plug and play.

Yep I've had an 08 and two 12s, all either TRD Sport or Offroad, and all the seats were the same.
