Yes, Sir, @gnardoggie sent me some which was super helpful in terms of height but I need to see where it sits on the cab. Hacking up my prinsu rack soon and rather save as much as I can.

There is a group of guys going out to Brown's camp on 4/3 I might join in the morning if schedule allows, but should be back in time for some beers in the afternoon.

Where are you looking to camp out that night?

Currently I have only a 100ah AGM sitting in a marine box in the bed of my truck. I pretty much put everything having to do with my Tundra on hold late last year when I found Spencer/SP. I've been busy with work and just haven't done any upgrades or even camped more than a time or two this winter which is very unusual for me.

But, to answer your question, I'll probably throw a lead acid 200ah (4d) under my truck because there's tons of room there. I'll have about $600 in the entire system including solar at that point. I usually buy them from Batteries and Bulbs (Duracell branded East Penn/DEKA). Also, I have a great MPPT controller and a few panels floating around, only a 100w mounted on the roof ATM. I also have the Blue Sea isolator already done under the hood, so finishing my Tundra with old-school power is really just the path of least resistance since I have most of it assembled already. Someday I'll do a real build thread.

I have considered putting my battery under the truck as well. Seems like a spot a good spot with some unused space. I'd love to get more room in my engine bay and even the bed. Let me find a picture of a setup that glorified welder did on a recent truck. thought it was pretty slick.

On my previous camper, and likely this one too, I use a GoalZero 1000. It runs my fridge, diesel heater, lights, and charges camera gear without a problem. I recharge it with solar and the truck. Plus I can move it to the house, the Jeep, and anywhere else I need it.
I considered going to a dual battery setup, but found the all in one unit to be good enough for me.

I like the idea of the Goal zero for portability but holy sh$t the price on those, and they don't seem to be compatible with a lot of solar panels for some reason. That 1,000 doesn't seem to be available anymore, just the 1500 for $2k or the 500W.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to look into lead acid and AGM for now.

They are WAY to expensive, so I bought mine on eBay. They had a bunch that were refurbished from GoalZero for under 1k. It’s been great, and I use a AGM primary battery. there are some great GZ alternatives but ya. Either way you go, there is enough info out there that you’ll get a good setup.

There are a few places that make adapters for other solar panels to work on gz batteries. Check out powerwerx. I charge mine with a renogy flexible panel.

Sweet thx! I have a Goal Zero 1000 and use their Boulder 100W solar panel. I want to run a flexible 200W panel and never knew who made the adapters.
