Doing my first oil changr here and I noticed this rusty peice of metal in the opening where you pour the oil in. when I touch it lightly with my finger large chunks of rust come off. I cany imagine thats good for the bearings in the engine. Should I be worried? Should I clean it? Is it normal?

alright thats cool. i thought for sure it was rust, since it feels pretty course and rough to the touch. I thought sludge would have a slimier feel to it.

oil looked good comming out. but i can check it again since it's all in the catch can still. it was mobil 1 synthetic that went in about 5.5k miles ago

It's nothing to worry about. Mine looks just like it. Inside of the motor is spotless.
