Not quite I was about 22 miles down on PINS. Growing up we've always called it bigshell. Due to the massive shells we find. If you drive till the road ends on 358 going through north padre island this is pretty much the last stretch of NPI.

Yep, fine and dandy. Biggest crowd was STILL lining the frontage roads and highway at SA Dragway! All trucks.... Oh, Green Gate was packed, but no new plants to snag.

I concur. Got home to find mine had trimmed up all the "failures", but said "only the dead stuff", so patience be damned. We aren't supposed to feed them for a couple weeks, so I stopped her from doing that (do it April 1).
I'm afraid the real nurseries have only "greenhouse plants and veggies", and the box stores will have that - the outdoor plants they have are generally NOT TX grown, so it's the usual pot luck.
I think by April we'll see some stock improve, but both the places in Seguin said the same thing about their suppliers - hit HARD by the storm. So, some things we have to have will probably come from out of state growers.
Did her greenhouse stored plants fare OK? I keep forgetting to ask.

For the most part yes, couple got burnt but those were the one on the edges so felt the cold through the walls. The plants inside the barn also got hit a little, they have life but lost most of the tops.

Dang! I forgot I even put the brave plants in the garage when I realized it wasn't going to be good! They had a little space heater too, but it was cold as heck in there. They did very well though.
I just ordered a sun shade cover for the greenhouse Friday, and a 13 mil CLEAR tarp for a winter cover for it as well. I'm going to see about gluing strips of bubble wrap to some styrofoam planks I have when I pull the bubble wrap off. If they are a good fit, I will insulate the walls with those next year. And figure out how to put some clear wrap on the ceiling.
I'm going to have to store less too, so I can get in and manually water. It was just too much to try to keep the drip going once it froze. The ridiculous part of insulating the heck out of it is all those 90+* days we have between the first and last freezes!

Always good to see our Racing Doc! (if you didn't see, Dragway was STILL packed on the way home. Access roads, blocking exits, etc. All TRUCKS.)
