Because every jeep owner has to run to the nearest repair shop every time it breaks down

Well, start of with a Taco bed mat. you now have $900 left to spend on some sort of storage thing, but exactly what kind of depends on what you are wanting to store?

Welcome! I’ve owned three new wranglers that were in the shop constantly too which is why I also made the switch. You’ll like your Taco a lot, much nicer build quality.

as for your storage question have you looked into a soft topper. It’s like a bed cap that folds down outta the way but is made of fabric. You may also find a cap for sale for cheap in your area

The new Jeeps seemed designed for city folk to go grocery shopping. Quality has gone downhill. Just my opinion.

Any recommendation for a hard folding tonneau cover? I would rather removable storage boxes or bins. Can't afford the decked truck bed storage yet. I'm not buying 100 totes - lol

Haha yeah a cover would be good. It’s not 100% waterproof though. You can apply weather stripping to help.

I know you said no Tonneau cover, but that would be my vote. Lower cost compared to a new camper shell and super easy to remove and reinstall as your hauling needs dictate. Then a couple of heavy duty totes to store your camping stuff in and you are good to go!

Thank you - I was under the impression that hard tonneau covers were hard to remove.

I'm in the woods a lot, have dogs and cats, and not to mention it's easy for someone using a knife to get to my gear.

Well I guess I should clarify that I have the OEM tonneau cover and it only takes removing one 10mm security bolt and the thing lifts right off. Not sure how easy the other ones out there are to remove and reinstall, but the OEM cover is a snap to do even for one person.

Get a hard aluminum trifold. I had a T5 Tyger before getting an ARE topper. It was around $450, stayed pretty dry other than a little seepage from the channels in the bed rail caps. No puddles just a little drip running down the inside. It was secure when the tailgate was locked, more secure than the higher end units that have a cable latch that can be defeated with a piece of wire. It was removable in about 5 minutes tops if you want it off. Then buy a few totes to put your camping gear in, on your bed mat, under your secure cover. Bonus I could stand on mine with no problem at 200lbs. Worked great picking apples.

I take my tri fold cover off all the time. Takes five minutes. And... under $1K lol.
I basically slide up in the bed, loosen two wing nuts and lift it off. Installation is just as easy.
