Going to purchase a 2021 Tacoma, I'm familiar with Gen 1's but not so much the Gen 3's when it comes to options right off the lot. The prices for each model differ greatly and I have a question regarding the two model differences.
I'm looking at SR5 (with the V6) and the Sport...both will be 2WD. Can someone please tell me why I should spend an extra $4K-ish on the Sport? But first let me throw out a couple things to consider. I have a truck shop so as soon as it leaves the dealer I'm adding a top of the lines full suspension lift and shocks, new larger wheels and tires, so if the suspension in the main difference it will be getting tossed anyway. Also I'm a Katskin Leather dealer so I can also get a free pelt kit from them and install that in house as well.
So with that in mind...what else is the reason(s) I should up for the Sport? Now, I do love the Sport hood and if I get the SR5 will prob get a hood from my Toyota part man and paint and install it. Thanks up front for the advise!

17s, slightly better infotainment, scoop, PTS, bed outlet??, blinkers in the side mirrors, color matched rear bumper for starters

the Sport is the first trim that includes the "advanced keyless" system. So key fob and push to start.

Edit: Just realized the guy above mentioned push to start

In 4 wheel drive trim the MSRP difference between an SR5 or Off Road/Sport is only around $1900. Haven't looked at the 2 wheel drives but suspect the price difference is probably about the same.

Looks like the difference is slightly larger in 2 Wheel Drive configurations at just over $2K

    SR5 DCSB V6 2WD- $32,330
    Sport/OR DCSB V6 2WD - $34,415

You can get a manual with the sport.
Other than that, the sport has the start button if it’s an auto, better infotainment, bed outlet and a scoop.

if you are going as far to immediately replace the suspension and I assume take it wheeling, I would go for an Offroad simply for the rear locker. Coming from a first gen even a base SR is going to have more equipment.

I’m a bit biased but sport seems like a better deal if it’s only 2k more. You get the useful bed outlet, awesome scoop, push start button, better infotainment system, nicer wheels and the mirror turn signals. I’m probably forgetting some things.

I went with the SR5 but in Canada they are equipped a bit differently. All SR5 and Sports are long bed only. The power outlet comes on the SR5 and you get heated seats. Major difference here is the SR5 has a manual rear window like the SR in the states. So you get a power rear window, hood scoop, push button on the auto, a TRD sticker and bigger wheels for the extra couple thousand. You can also get the premium package on the Sport....(leather, glass roof, etc) but that jacks up the price a lot.

As others have said, Sport has the smart key system with push to start, hood scoop, LED daytime running lights, turn indicators in the mirrors, bed outlet, color keyed bumper, 17 inch wheels, and a different grille. You also have more options that can be added. I wanted the factory LED headlights and fog lights, JBL audio, and heated leather seats. If you aren’t interested in that stuff, the SR5 is great truck and basically a blank canvas to do what you want to it.

Geez. and i thought the sport appeared a bit goofy looking with a hood scoop, but to each their own.

Fair enough. I actually really like those dark gray wheels that come on some SR5s, or is it an SR wheel? It’s an sr5 in the pic but I’m pretty sure I only saw these wheels on SRs only.

I think those wheels may have been an option on the SR initially but are now also an SR5 option. My 2020 SR5 came with those wheels in black.
