    I feel a lot of people recommending 5.29s on a "non-overlanding" rig that's staying on 33s are the same people that say they shoot 3.5" duck loads because they don't make 4"!

    Are 4.88s on 35s worse than 3.90 on 33"?
    4.88s on 33s sure gotta do better than 3.90s on 31s that's kinda how I see it I guess. No need to overcompensate, right?

    Wrong. You're not over compensating by running 5.29s. You have to look further than just gear ratio compared to stock. These trucks need as much mechanical advantage as possible.

    Cool. Thanks for sharing! So what can you tell us about this tune? Any changes to timing, afr? Always in CL or using stock CL/OL logic?

    So it's really 5.29 or bust eh?

    Any AT with larger than stock tires should be on 5.29.

    I don’t know of anyone that’s went 5.29 and wishes they went 4.88. But there’s been plenty that went 4.88 and wish they went 5.29

    I had 5.29 stock suspension, stock tune(with tsb ), and tires for about 1000ish miles and it was well worth it. I would have ran 5.29 even if I stayed completely stock. It increased the overall driving experience and got excellent mpg 19-22 without even babying the pedal. I don’t believe there’s any long term negative effects running 5.29s but correct me if I’m wrong.

    Appreciate the feedback, I’d go 5.29 if there are no longer term negative effects on the drivetrain while staying completely stock. Also a one and done purchase. Unless it is not recommended i’d like to hear the reasoning behind it.

    Also playing with the torque map still, I think I remember Mat saying we needed to adjust shift points with the adjusted torque maps. I can’t get rid of the weird 4th low then the rpms come back up so I adjusted the shift right above where the issue was.
    I locked all slip still had it and I could move the issue around in the rpm/speed range but wouldn’t go way so I think that’s maybe what he meant adjusting the shift points just over if there is something funky like that. Everything else feels and drives good

    Any interest in throwing together a 33" with 4.88 gears?

    @TacoNesian @Mooseditty17
    I'm on 265/75-16 tires(31.6", 1" larger than stock) with the 5.29's and I'm liking it a lot. This is my daily driver. No rock crawling, but it get's me into and out of some pretty tricky places where I launch my kayak. It doesn't have one bit of trouble on the freeway at 75. At 60mph the tach is at 2000, 2400 at 70mph. What's been happening with the tuners and testers on this forum is impressive.

    I spend way more time on the hwy than the interstate, but I guess 33s might be in the 2200 range @ 70, 24-2500 @ 80. That's not terrible...
