My dad always told me to pay to have plumbing and electrical done. This was as I watched him get faces full of shit from snakeing traps and getting shocked trouble shooting electrical problems. It's probably why I hate working on my house but will gladly tear a transmission apart and put it back together without blinking an eye.

If it's a new valve I noticed those tend to drip a bit when first installed then they fix themselves and stop.

You gain confidence the more you do of it. Electrical is easy, just keep your connections tight. Plumbing isn't bad but I do check for drips frequently and loose a little sleep the first couple nights after a big project, failure can be expensive.

Besides launching a biscuit or two down the throne daily I don’t mess with plumbing. I’ll do a lot around the house but plumbing is left to the professionals. In my experience it’s not cheap either.

Being able to do DIY it is nice for me to save money, but not so nice because my wife makes me do things like put in outdoor showers.

Unrelated, anyone want to help me put in an outdoor shower this Spring?

I'm good a identifying problems and quarantining/repair lol! I can count on one hand how many times I have ever had to use a contractor, mostly for cosmetic stuff because I suck at that. I'm 90% sure I'm farming out the replumbing of my entire house and the ceiling drywall work, with insurance picking up some of the drywall/paint tab.

It’s a valve that is probably original to the house 34 years old.
