This is what I’ve got. I was looking to make my own, but had trouble finding the 8mm barrel plug that gz uses. https://powerwerx.com/goal-zero-98015-8mm-mc4-solar-adapter-cable

Oh crap! I need to call them tomorrow and see if that’s going to be a problem. I have the same Voodoo rails on mine. I didn’t even think about that. ‍:anonymous:

yeah its an issue for some us who have swapped. i think spencer has a plan given that IG post to make a aluminum spacer to raise up the camper for 2gens. I would reach out to them that you have these.

the main issue for those who have voodo or relentless. is inside the camper there are 3 flanges that extend down into the camper about 3/4 of an inch to help aline and lock down the camper. 3gens don't have an issue since there is a larger gap between the top of the bed rail and mounting u-channel.

    drab.

My power needs are pretty low, only using a 330w battery and a 120w solar panel, mainly to run a 200w electric heater and charge devices.

Am I right in assuming this isn’t a problem for 1st gens, as we simply have that old school bed rail? Thanks.

ya, I sent them an email about it today. Unfortunately Spencer is out this week. Hopefully I’ll hear back from him or Cindy. Luckily, like you said, it appears they are working on a solution.

You shouldn't have to... I think the issue is that the current design for the X-1 was based off the height from the 3rd gen bed rails to above the cab & shark fin.

The 2nd gen bed sides are a little shorter, but with the OEM plastic bed rail caps, the X-1 is still high enough.

When you replace the plastic caps with the 1/8" aluminum ones, you drop the X-1 down about 3/4" which will either hit the shark fin if you have it and haven't replaced it with an @Anderson bullet OR maybe it hits the cab due to the height of the overhang. Nobody has given clear measurements or explanation of this on here that I have seen.

So the current "fix" for the fix (replacing the plastic bed caps that the tabs break and the caps start walking out from the truck on their own), it is spaced back up.

Definitely early adopter woes and hopefully SP gets this figured out as well as their design of the overlap/fastening system they have to ensure that the X-1 is interchangeable between all Tacoma generations like the other campers on the market. It would suck to build up your 1st gen, have someone t-bone you and decide to get a 2nd or 3rd gen and then have to start all over with a new camper.

Looks like I’ll have to use one. They said they ordered extras, so they’ll have one for me. Obviously I’d love to see a design where that isn’t needed, but it would be pretty hard to head back to Oregon to replace it. So spacer it is. I’ll probably pull the camper off and paint it at some point.

@frenchee does the Gen 1 bed even have the tie down extrusions/rails inside of it?

Great replacemet for the buddy heater - warmed up the tent pretty fast and didn't have to worry about fumes.

I ran it for 40 mins to test it and it used 15% of the battery. When we're camping I only run it a little before bed and when we wake up.
