Looks like we'll all be paying a significant amount more at the pumps this year. $3.65 a gallon two days ago. I filled both Tacomas up with no ethanol premium. I don't always use that but my truck going to sit for 5 - 6 weeks.

They're very handy; we have a lot of Doug Fir, Hemlock and Alder around here, so I do a lot of spiral pruning for both my place and the elderly neighbour. One of those skills and tool-kits that the average bear doesn't have (Oh... wait, of course they don't... there's no "app" for it).

Knurling can be a pain, I prefer the scissor type, they're much easier on the bearings. One thing to consider is the TPI/diameter, there's arguments against and for using the "proper" tpi for a given diameter. I'm no expert, but can usually get decent results, just need a very ridged set up.

So the way I've done it is, the knurler clamps the workpiece and then you engage the leadscrew on the lathe and it moves the carriage along with that. Then you re-engage at the start and tighten the knurler if you need a deeper finish. Getting it back to zero is easier with a travel indicator. You might actually be able to just reverse the leadscrew and run it back to zero. It's been a while...

I talked to the guy in this picture this evening. He and his friend won the local tournament Saturday with these 5 fish. He said they had 21 lbs something. I said what did 2nd place have? He said 11 lbs something less
