I did. I think it looks good, Craig wasn’t a big fan of the last paint job and I think it looked kind of silly as well with all the arrows and words haha

I hate to tell you, but the new livery that advertising came up with is worse. Enjoy it now when the aircraft is clean and de-cluttered.

Gotta be special ops. No one else seems smart enough to bring their own hammocks onto a C-17.

Need an old loadmaster. The young ones don't get it.

I did about 7 years in combat comm jobs. I've slept on every lifter we had (at the time). KC-135s were the most uncomfortable because they're freezing and can go 16 hours straight.

Anyone with knowledge about the current situation in the regionals. I have heard jobs are starting to pick back up and I am a year out from starting a second career. I will have to knock out the whole rtag pipeline. But I have the time to be set up when I walk out of this job. I am just wondering if the airlines are a good way to go or is the outlook rather poor. Thanks for any insight.

Hiring is starting to resume at some of them. Hopefully the picture looks a lot better a year from now

Holy crap - the last time I was there HAVE BLUE and some of those other birds were still in the annex building (along with a collection of old AF-1s). Nice to see that they got their own dedicated space.

I need an excuse to visit Dayton again...

As I was doing my regular monthly flight out to SNA the other day, I discovered that there’s a page in the FMS that shows fuel lb/nm. Some quick math resulted in me learning that the jet gets 2.5nmpg at max cruise speed while at max cruise altitude. Makes me laugh when the company tries to look “eco friendly” by stocking boxed waters in the lobby. Not sure who they’re fooling!

My favorite is flying one person coast to coast. Get to destination and they insist on wanting a Prius or similar b/c they’re concerned about the climate and carbon offsets..... yeah, whatever

That's part of the math for specific fuel consumption, or a fancy way of saying work produced for energy consumed. Watch it between a headwind & a tailwind. Or if your company has a profile to fly. A more efficient profile can make a huge difference in fuel burns, yet only change the flight length by a matter of minutes.

Flying jets will never be as fuel efficient as a hybrid car, but compare the regular automobile and jets today versus 50 years ago. A muscle car then would be doing about 6mpg whereas a modern muscle car can easily be in the 20+mpg range on the highway, and still have better performance & safety. Forget about comparing the economy of a straight turbojet to today's high bypass turbofans.
