Ordering new Tacoma -Dealer BS or Reality ?

Sounds like they have a choice to make: Refund your deposit and let you travel or get the truck themselves and sell it to you. Deposits are refundable so I would not let them hold you hostage.

 

Another thought, look at 2016 or 2017 with 40k miles in the same trim you want... It is gonna cost that same as brand new. So just pull the trigger and enjoy all the miles.

 

they ran out of KEYS. I picked up my 21 SR yesterday and got a note saying my second key was not available due to a distribution problem and toyota corporate would provide it at no cost at a later date.

 

This is my first Toyota and don’t get me wrong I love my truck and how it feels drive wise, styling, etc But I couldn’t be less impressed with how arrogant the dealers are because of the demand. I’ve had 6 alignments and my truck still doesn’t drive straight - quality seems to be hit and miss. I hope OP gets the truck he wants in the end - the dealers and MFG don’t seem to interested in customer satisfaction.

 

I was advised to try boston by local dealers here from the tri-state area of ct, ma. and ny. for ordering my truck. Its where my brothers wife was told the same when ordering her honda.

 

My closest dealer worked hard last fall looking for a truck that met my specifications and found several but the other dealers would not release them.

I guess the dealer makes a better profit selling that transferring.

I started checking the dealers that they stated had a truck I wanted and visited them.

Had to drive a little ways, not nearly 1300 miles like the other guy but found my truck and could not be happier.

The dealer I visited only had one OR, so around in my area, not many to choose from.

I was lucky. Took 3 months or waiting and watching.

 

I ordered my Off Road, Magnetic Gray, Manual, on 2./26, with a build date of 3/30, now it is 4/9 - hard to find a manual. However the dealership I am working with had one scheduled to be built but black, with all the options I wanted, I got in early enough to change the colour.

 

I would hope that’s the case because I love mine but unfortunately down here I see them everywhere...

***UPDATE*** I may have a line on my spec truck (albeit with silly upcharge for door edge protectors and mudflaps :-( ) from a dealer 15 miles away, and possibly landing in 2 weeks, deposit down and going today to complete paperwork I have the VIN, so maybe my consternations will be at an end...thanks to this thread for helping me out !

I've got a new Tacoma on order. Should be ready by end of April. Little over 1 month.

 

I finally secured a DCLB SR5 Cement ! Arrives at dealer first week in April...

 

Nice. I had to drive 750 miles for a PRO 6MT. Took about 3 months to find one that wasn't completely across the country and had to act FAST.

 

Love cement! Mine is lunar rock.

 

I debated whether to get another manual. Went with auto this time. This will be my first auto transmission.

 

Congrats! Twinsie. Love mine. In 2018 I went with silver, couldn't find cement. This time, my DCLB OR Cement I held out, so glad I did. Mine was born 1/28/21. LOVE the truck
