Suspension lift '06

Hey guys, I have an '06 Taco, its my first one.

Im looking to put a suspension lift and tires on my truck and am looking for advice.

-I would like to fit around a 35" tire, with that said I have a few questions:

-what suspension kit & how big (3"? 6"?) do you recommend going with?

-can I fit a 35" tire on the stock rims?


I want a lifted look, but I hate the look of a taco thats too high, and looks kind of squatty and tonka cartoonish (I dont know if that makes sense?) But I want to go with a decent size lift, and dont want to have to come back and put another one on later.

Your tires will fit the rims, but wont fit on the truck no matter how high you lift it. You will need to buy aftermarket rims with more backspace or put a spacer behind your stock rims to gain clearance.
32'' tires fit any Taco
33" will fit w/ some rubbing if you go off road and flex your suspension.
Go bigger and you are cutting to make it fit.

 

My suggestion is 275s (32s) with an easy 3" lift unless you want a lot of work and deal with rubbing issues.

I wouldn't recommend running a 35" tire on stock rims. The stockers are only 7-7.5" wide (depending on the model). Also as ThrottleJunky noted, you would need to run wheel spacers as well.

There are a few people on here who fit 35's on their 3" lift, but all of them have aftermarket front bumpers. You can fit 35's on a 6" rather easily, but it will definately fall into the "too high" you said you wanted to avoid.

A taco with a 6" lift and 35's is actually 8" higher than stock, due to the increased tire diameter.

KPT how much lift are you running with your 5100s? are you satisfied with their performance?

I would like to get rims later on, but to save me some money now, was hoping to run the stocks on larger tires that way Im not shelling out all the money for the lift rims and tires at once.

 

I love my 5100's. I'm running 1.75" of lift.

Here's what I would recommend for you, seeing as how you want to save some money.

Instead of running a 6" lift with aftermarket rims and tires (which will cost you close to $4000 installed, and give you the monster truck look),

why not go with 5100's or OME shocks and springs, for 3", and run 33's on your stock rims with wheel spacers?

You could do all that for around $1500 or so.
