Spot on. There is some flow here. Which is still way more technical than Dallas was, but I choose not to ride that because I'm yet to find a good flow trail in Phoenix.

The ol flats vs clips debate. I honestly think it’s just preference. I started on flats, rode clips for about 7 years, then moved back to modern flats with good shoes. I personally like the movement and flexible foot positioning flats allows, the quick in/out, no mud issues, and good technique.
No doubt clips are faster, and more efficient though.
    Ride what you like.

    Kinda looks like a jig...

I raced one time on a XC course that was climbing the first 3 miles and downhill the last 3 miles.
6 mile loop that was smooth and fast. Had a pro roadie who would just hammer up the climb. The
veins he had in his legs were just ripped. Climbing on a mountain bike I always thought I was top tier
for a mtn biker. But this roadie made the climb his little bitch. But once we got over the top I would just
fly by him on the way down. He couldn't even come close to my down hill skills. When the race was done
we shot the breeze for a little while and I found out he was here to race in the Tour Dupont. Guy was a
pro from Europe here to compete in the USA for a few months. I learned a lot about my climbing skills trying

to follow him up the mountain. I watched him spin up that mountain so easy. That's when I told myself the
only way I was gonna be a great climber was to spin up the mountain with a fast cadence like you do on a
    straight.

Can anyone confirm/deny if an SX crankset can work with the bottom bracket for a GX?

I got a creaking in my BB and want to service it but this is twice in 1 year. Thinking a BB upgrade would be good...

if its a newer bike (last 3 years or so) chances are the GX is a dub bb. i dont see why a SX crank wouldn't work, they're all dub now too i thought

I definitely don’t have the dub. It is a threaded bb though. Mine came with a full SX setup. Just upgrading to gx level as i see fit, but i dont need cranks really.

It's your BB. Everything hinges on your BB, and if you think wheel standards are frustrating, wait until you dive into BB standards. SX/GX/XX1 makes no nevermind. It's about the BB.

Well that doesn’t necessarily answer my question lol. I’m looking to upgrade my BB. Just wanting to make sure I don’t need to upgrade the crankset too.

I think it’s called a powerspline BB? That comes with the SX.

It all has to match. If you are threaded, or what the width is. Dub makes life easier because it can accomodate a few different widths, but make sure you have the right crank to match the bb and the frame.

Start with looking up your bike and finding out what bb standard is in your frame.

    Well that’s what I’m asking...

I know a dub works on the frame, I just can’t find for sure if it works with SX crankset

You have to get a dub SX crankset - powerspline is a different standard

Yuck. So it would be better to just go ahead and get a GX crankset then

The model of the cranks doesn't matter.

It all has to match whichever BB you have. BB's aren't much money. The BB standard and the Cranks must match. There isn't cross compatibility.

If you have a powerspline BB, you need powerspline cranks. If you have dub BB, you need dub cranks. If you have GXP BB, you need GXP cranks. And so on and so forth.

If you don't want to replace your cranks, make sure you replace with the same BB you have now.
If you do want to replace your cranks, get a BB standard that works with your frame and your new cranks. Make sense?

Yes it makes sense lol. I’m not saying get a GX crankset because SX won’t work. I’m saying i don’t love the powerspline bb. So if I upgrade it to a dub, I have to upgrade cranks. Dub dub dub. SX dub or GX dub. I get it. I’m saying it would probably make sense to just go GX dub at that point over the SX dub.

    Check this out: https://www.pinkbike.com/u/flattireco/

I bought my gravel bike from them. They have some takeoff XO cranks but I bet they might have some GX stuff if you ask. Unless you want to ball out and get some carbon cranks haha

I obviously wouldn’t mind higher than GX if it wasn’t too expensive. Don’t necessarily see a need for higher than GX though. I’ll look into this thanks!
