There are many, many helpful posts in here in TW on the topic. But here's the page with the part (+ detailed info): https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-8536125-toyota-8-clamshell-bushing-eliminates-needle-bearing.html

And here is what I used to help me do the job for my 1st gen Tacoma (Timmy is the best!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXIfHArtvF8

Exactly why I bought this kit!! For the warranty!
If they start jerking people around what's the point?
Also if enough of these problems occur I can see Toyota discontinuing this fast

Makes you wonder how much testing Toyota had actually put into this kit. If they had just read TW, they'd have known that 3rd gen are susceptible to this kind of vibration even with minor lifts..

It then becomes the issue of Toyota constantly replacing the stock needle bearings until they realize they need to do a TSB upgrade and actually fix the problem with better bearing system/tolerances.
They likely never engineered those bearings for the lifted/angular load.

Additionally, this will crop up more when people start taking their lifted trucks onto more difficult terrain putting even more stress on the bearings.

    hmmm....

I'm about to put the full RCI armor pack on and have the Cali Raised sliders on already. How does your truck ride with all the goodies and have you done any suspension work?
Not to derail the thread but am interested in your experience with this. Glad I waited on doing any lift while this gets sorted out.

Update on the vibration issues. The dealer opened up the case with Toyota Corporate. Corp told my dealer that they should replace the entire front differential. The dealer told me the differential was on back order, so it could be a few days or a month.
I agree with some of the above, the vibration issues was the only reason I did not lift my last Taco (2018 TRD/Sport), but as soon as they made these kits available I immediately signed up for the dealer to install on the new Taco. This was all assuming I would not mess with the warranty. So far it seems Toyota is standing by the vehicle:)

I am also interested to hear how the truck rides with some additional weight. I have a bunch of stuff coming from Victory 4x4 that I will be installing!

@dragonsh8tacos I am sorry to hear that your Taco is having some vibration problems. Hopefully Toyota can rectify the issue and eventually give back your Taco a smooth ride. It has been 2 weeks now on my lift kit and larger wheels and so far no problems. Taco has been running smooth. 'knock on wood' FWIW, glad everything is covered under warranty.

I was going to pull the trigger on this kit. I still might, but the shock of the $785 in labor to have it installed has scared me off for a couple of months.

I will hopefully come back to this kit soon.

So why don’t we just put in the clam shell ecgs like everyone else that lifted their taco and call it a day. Than to make the dealership run around with you for months. I understand it’s free but my time to run around with the dealership drop off and pickup cost a lot to me.

Have any of you taken a close look at the inner cv boots after the installation of the front TRD suspension components?

Can you slide a piece of paper between all of the boot fins on the inner CV boots when the truck is on level ground without any problem?

Reason I ask, I have the 6112 Bilstein front dampeners/coils on my AC and am at 1.75" in lift (which Bilstein insists is max for the AC cab) however if at 2" I would assume the boots fins are going to be rubbing and wearing quickly.

Also have any of you raised the front corner off the ground and inspected the clearance between the upper control arm and the coil at full droop? Are they coming into contact with each other at full droop?

pic for reference (I have about 1/8" clearance)

New wheels and tires (General Grabber ATX 265/70R17) to go with my TRD lift. Nice and modest. Still plenty of power. Rides soft.

No. Knock on wood. But my dealer added a clamshell bushing (I thin that's what they called it) to the install.
I took it on an 800 mile roundtrip (freeway, city and off-road) mountainous adventure last weekend and it was silky smooth. Drove as high as 90+MPH on I-15 in Southern Utah where the limit is 80.

so i just got my shocks in the mail and i was wondering if anybody can think of a reason i couldn't use a 1.25" rear block instead of the 1" one that comes with the kit?....thanks!

You can use whatever you want in the rear. It just depends on the stance and rake you would like.

All trucks are going to be slightly different but here's what I did on my 2016 DCSB Sport:
    - Front TRD Shocks on the top perch with OEM Springs gave me 2.25" of lift over stock.
    - Rear TRD Shocks with Wheelers 3 leaf AAL (removed stock Overload leaf) gave me 1.25" of lift over stock.

My Stock setup measured 1" of rake (1" higher in the rear). So after lift I am dead level. I am probably not in the majority here and do not like the level look, especially with weight in the bed and then I'm dragging ass. I plan to add a 1" block to my setup to get my stock 1" rake back.
