Trade 2010? what would you do?

Crunched numbers at the dealer tonight to trade my 2010 bsp access cab 4x4 sr5 4cyl with snugtop 16k miles for a 2011 TRD sport auto in super white.

I only currently owe 3650, the amount financed on the TRD sport would be 13k including a Leer camper shell.

I like my truck and can live with my truck but the 2011 is fully loaded, payment would be 100 less than I am paying on the 4 cyl. ????

Why would you do it? 10K more in debt? I wouldn't unless I was not happy with my current truck.

 

Also Rumor has it gas is just gonna keep going up. We are to hit over 4.00 a gallon here in SoCal soon. Is it really worth the extra 10 grand as well?

100 dollars less a month? Don't look at it that way. You're most likely adding 3 more years of payments at 100 dollar less a month. In the long wrong you're throwing away 10k. If it's what you really want and can afford it then go for it. You only live once. Give it 10 years and we'll all be walking anyways.

The 4 cyl has never gotten over 20 mpg. I check almost every fill up. Love the sr5 interior comfort and am concerned about the trd seats being firmer since that was the case with a gen 1 tacoma trd I had?

Anyways, we will see. Got some thinking to do today?

 

Seems like you are trying to justify the decision you already made, life is short and if you really want it... makes you happy then go for it.

 

Based on the service required and the similarity in gas mileage, I'd do it.

Personally I wouldn't. Only once have a bought a car without my first one wearing out. It was the biggest mistake I ever made. Still to this day think of what I could've done with the 23k.

Trade a 2010 for a 2011

At least wait for the third gen so there is a significant upgrade for that 13k.

 

If you are going to go for it, I recommend this as well. The higher the payments you can comfortably afford, the sooner it will be paid off, and the less interest you will be throwing away.

 

I would drive the 2.7 L until that engine tanks, which won't be for a long, long time if properly maintained. I have the V6 and with gas on the rise, it ain't all it's cracked up to be (although it's nice for towing).

My advice would be to stick with what you have for now. The resell value drops significantly the first year, but then goes down at a slower rate from then on, so you won’t lose much value in the next couple years.

If you’re not happy with it, I doubt you would want to keep it until the wheels fall off, but you could have it paid off in a year. My experience is that the paid off truck drives a whole lot nicer than one that carries a monthly payment. Give it a year or two, pay off your current truck, and then see how you feel. I also doubt you would want to trade in a paid off 2010 for a new 2012 either.
