Nice! I have the Diode Dynamics sports. Those alone made a huge difference.

I drove into Fayettenam today to the Hendrick Toyota dealership and picked up this TRD Pro skid for $365. This thing is very well constructed with solid welds, powdercoat finish, and mounting hardware. It took me about an hour to install it by myself. It wasn't exactly easy but it wasn't that difficult either. I don't understand why it seems taboo for people to put 3rd Gen parts on 2nd Gen's and vice versa when they're all Toyota parts going on Toyota trucks. I think this skid actually looks better on the 2nd Gen than it does the 3rd Gen's too. This is much more robust than the dinky factory splash guard and plenty good enough for my mild off-roading needs. All the bolts were torqued to factory specs.

I made sure the template holes matched the snorkel, which they did except for one small hole which I corrected.
The snorkel body and the fender have different curves. I taped the template to the fender copying the curves of the fender.
You can see in the picture that the holes are off (all of them including the large one). The snorkel is high in the back (the top doesn't match the top of the fender), I'm questioning if it will even meet the A-pillar.
I followed the directions when it came to positioning the template and this is the result.

It looks like the only hole that is correct is the large one.

I'm going to contact Dobinson's to see if I can get a new template.

Nice @plurpimpin Did you seal the bed pocket because it's exposed? I've got a bed cap...so no exposure issues from the inside...

I probably bought the same abs plastic off Amazon last night...12" x 12" x 1/8"...

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007WTF02/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8

What did you cut the ABS with? I've got a jigsaw and trim router...

Did you drill from the underside?

Our installs are probably for a bit different applications...The Dometic kit has a 10 ga wire harness that is supposed to connect directly to the battery terminals...and it has an inline fuse on the positive cable close to where it connects to the battery.

    IMG_20210323_150904427.jpg

It looks like it also has a fuse in the outlet box itself:

    IMG_20210323_150932169.jpg

I don't see any place for a ground...

I've got to go back and look at your install to see if you mounted the ABS panel behind the bed pocket frame...that's what I would like to do so that it looks clean, but I'm wondering if the bed pocket frame will be able to snap back into place with a 1/8" sheet wedged between it and the bed liner...

Just fyi, I cross-posted this topic in the Dometic and Technical forums...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-wheel-well-2nd-gen-ac.713751/#post-25390696

    Thanks for your help!

    double fuses shouldnt hurt anything..

I cut mine with a box knife or some scissors. I think a jigsaw for that small of a piece would be too much tool.

Thanks, @fatfurious2 Didn't really want to go with the jigsaw...I guess I'll have a better idea when the panel gets here on Thursday...

Replaced the shitty hooks that came with my cheap truck tool box with these gems from Amazon. Best $18 bucks I've spent in a long time.

I cut mine with a circular saw and then rounded the corners off with a dremel. Any wood cutting tools should work fine. I used a hole saw for the outlets.

the black wire in your hand is the ground. I just grounded mine locally to the frame so I didn’t have to run the wire all the way to the battery.

I seriously doubt you’ve be able to put the panel behind the frame of the cubby. The clips barely engage as is with nothing else between. That’s why I riveted my cubby into the bed and then put rivet nuts in the cubby frame to bolt the panel on.

I sealed my bed cubby because I removed my plastic bed rail caps when I put my wedge camper on so water was coming in through the holes in my bed rail, pooling on top and seeping in. Probably not a problem if you have bed caps in place.

Sweet. Thanks for the explanation! I'm going to have to look into rivet nuts...I think I kind of understand what you are talking about, but not exactly sure...

Hey y'all. Today I bought my second gen!

2013 SR5 V6 4x4 Access Cab in Magnetic Gray. Zero options except for the tow package, 33k miles on the clock, super clean inside and out with service records. Came with a camper shell. It clearly was not anyone's daily driver, from the small amount of wear in the bed, underneath, and on the tow hitch it seems like it was just used for truck stuff. They traded it in. Go figure.

Still have to figure out how to be okay with letting my first gen go (might never happen), but I needed passenger airbags, air conditioning, and less time underneath the truck. I'm really excited to join the club with this thingnewtruck2.jpg :
