Simple Sleeping Platform: Cheap Works Great

Anyone ever run something like a hammock from the bedrails? I think each cleat is rated at 110lbs, so maybe something like a cargo net setup, with 3 or 4 attachment points on each rail. Just a thought, but I've never seen it done.

 

I run a hammock from my bed reinforcement brackets. Not the bed rail clears.can’t really see it but it’s attached at one end to the driftwood stump and the other to the bracket.

Sounds like you need to snug it up some. Adding some indoor / outdoor carpet wrapped around the edges, might do the trick.

 

I realize I'm being totally unclear. I am trying to describe a hammock or cargo net style bed suspended over the truck bed, attached to the rails, maybe. Imagine it right where everyone's bed platform is.

 

Or you could screw the plywood to the 2x6.

 

I think you’d bottom out on the bed floor. Getting the hammock tight enough to suspend you fully would be a challenge.

What’s everybody using for a mattress? For years I just cut a 4” piece of foam I got for free. Maybe I’m getting older but i don’t sleep on it as well as I used to

in my world ‘sleeping like a baby’ means waking every 2 hrs crying with my pants all wet !!

Exped megamat 10. I used to use lounge chair pads (1-2 for myself, 3 to cover the entire platform for company but with a short bed that was terrible). With the Exped it is as good as my bed @ home.

 

Two 2x4s on edge and a piece of 3/4" plywood. Mounting plywood on wheel wells is too high, cuts living space almost in half. Store solar panel and some gear underneath, 4" memory foam mattress.
