    Evening PA!

Got the oil changed on the Cub. While the VW is long since gone I'm still using the extractor I bought to change its oil. Turns out it works wonderfully for the mowers!

In a matter of 10 minutes the oil change was done. Not even a 1 beer job! Ready to mow this year! I did have a moment of stupid though. I thought I had an oil filter for it so I went to get one outta my filter stash. Yup, not there? Crap. Went to the local Tractor Supply and lo and behold they were slap outta Kohler filters. Hmm, well that's not good. Remembering it's a 3/4-16 thread, the 4.0L in 2nd gen Tacoma's are the same. Went up to the 'Zone and was able to get an STP. Barely fit length wise, but I will say $6 is a whole lot cheaper than the $15 they were selling the Kohler filter. I might have to snag a couple YZZD3 Toyota filters when I take the truck in for its 5K "service"!

Guess my bank of useless knowledge came in handy today

Nice job! Wonder if that fluid extractor will work on my wife’s jk.... I wanna suck her fluid out and change the filter but rather not make a mess ;-)

If it's a topside filter, it's worth a try! It worked great on my GTI, coworkers Passat, and the Merc SLK230!

Now, it may leave a little oil behind, but it's not that much to be honest. Harbor Freight has two versions. This one is the little bit more expensive version, but it sucks and blows ( ). The cheaper one just extracts. Also the fittings are more "industrial" and look to be replaceable on the more expensive one. Used it on several mowers with great success and I've also used it on the power steering reservoir in my second gen, that worked great!

Anyone spot Odie on the road today? Lynn and I took a trip down to Doylestown to see the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle. Great day to be out on a road trip!

    Lol. Boss just texted me:

"Adam, I need a huge favor?"

Now this is a man that repays favors really well.. so I just reply with:

    "What?"

    His reply was:

"Nothing, just no one else is fucking answering so I wanted to make sure my phone works, have a great night!"

    Me, being a smartass:

"Welcome to my life when I need to get ahold of someone in charge."

My new place has a little under 7 acres. I’m going to transplant them next spring. I hope they start producing 1-2 years after that, then I’m going to shoot the deer that come in to eat them...:D my place was logged two years ago, and i
I’m trying to get some different food sources growing and established before the saplings take over in 3-4 years.

Not yet, but that is the plan, only for attracting wildlife. It’s going to be small and manageable, something i can maintain with a weed whacking once or twice a year.

That's actually a really good use for it too! Couple "suck and fills" and you got a nicely refreshed tranny.

Wow, the puns in that sentence... That's enough internet for me tonight. o_O:rofl:

Mark, I hope to be as cool as you guys are when I retire! Glad you're doing some cool stuff with your retirement! If you guys ever make it over to my part of the Appalachian trail, I owe you a beer

Harbor Freight is such a crapshoot at the moment. I initially went for the cheaper one, but all they had was the more expensive one. That however was a good thing as it's much better quality. As far as your local HF having it, that's up in the air. It might be worth it to just order it online. I imagine with all the equipment you service it will be a very handy tool!
