because carbon haha. But in reality there probably isn't much need. I'm not sure what the weight difference is between SX up to GX and then from GX to XO

Powerspline is garbage. Upgrading away from that is absolutely worth the effort IMHO.

Not sure either. But I know my other SX components I’ve upgraded to nx or GX are so much nicer now. Shifter, derailleur, chain so far. I always hear that GX is like a fantastic mid level of stuff. Nx is a great baseline. And SX is trash haha

I agree, with no experience on anything but a powerspline haha. It is hot garbage.

Yeah GX is definitely solid stuff.

As far as other than powerspline, Pretty much all my bikes have SRAM GXP which I have put close to 3000 miles on between my 3 bikes (road, gravel and mountain). I've never swapped bottom brackets on those bikes, I only repressed the bearings in on my road bike to be safe. I would hope DUB would have a similar lifespan.

I had bad luck with GXP - never got more than a year out of GXP BB - Dub, on the other hand, has been bomber!

That why my wife and I got gravel bikes, she can't ride with me on the trails but absolutely crushes me on the road. We are pretty even on the gravel unless there is a long up or down, then one of us is usually waiting on the other but it mostly evens out.

God, BB standards and chain line make my head hurt. But yes, DUB has been great for me too. Especially the threaded version, which has been creak free and spins smoothly after over 1,000 miles of desert dust and mountain mud.
Been having good luck with the new Shimano BB as well. 750 miles on the enduro sled and going strong.
I clean em up and relube every 250ish miles.

I could look this up, but on threaded BB do you use antiseize or thread-tape to create seal and keep contaminates out?

Yes. I started doing this after seeing it in one of Worldwide Cyclery's videos. I'm not sure if it's helped with anything though...

Yeah, thats how I was taught back in my day of working at bike shops. A thin layer of grease to help keep moisture out. Not so much that it collects dirt.

I'm just gonna keep up questions today..

How often do you check the "trueness" of your wheels and discs?
How often do you find that the wheels are "untrue"?

Thin layer of grease on threads to keep them from seizing.
No mileage really for checking true. If I hit something hard, I’ll check em. If a disk rubs, I’ll check it. Otherwise, when I fix something on the bike I’ll give it a quick check. The zip tie method works well for me since I don’t have a trueing stand.
My Zipp rims haven’t held true as well as the NOX rims. Makes sense though, they’re meant to pivot, which I’m guessing moves the nips a bit.

I will give the spokes a squeeze every now and then to make sure spokes aren’t loose. Even when I have found them loose the wheel has rarely been out of true enough to true them.

Rotors I only check when they make noise too.

I got one of those fancy Park Tools spoke tension tools. When I'm bored I check my spoke tension. I've found since I got the Reserve wheels, they stay perfecty true no matter what manner of abuse I throw at them.

I also run the Hope Rotors, with the thick aluminum carrier, and they too seem to never go out of true.

If anybody needed a reason not to use a powerspline bb, here it is.

I guess I've never thought about different bb brands having differnet problems like this. huh.

I just don’t think the powerspline seals off very well. I understand the whole thing is sealed to itself but there are no seals or grommets when putting it in the bike. So it allows dirt and grime and water in as you can see.
