There was just no way after all these years I could relearn How to adjust my head to look at things different

I can't stand contacts. I can feel them and it bugs the ever living shit out of me. Like having a sharp plastic disc in my eye.

As someone that had Lasik about 8 years ago or so, I love it and would do it again. I had a mild astigmatism which prevented me from qualifying for PRK. That said, I had about 20/400 vision before the surgery and afterwards, I was around 20/15. Unlike others that have had the surgery, my eyes have slowly gotten worse which resulted in me needing glasses again at a much lower prescription. If your eyes aren't staying the same prescription and holding steady for about 2 to 3 years, I wouldn't rush to surgery right off the bat. Once your eyes are steady, then you can pursue surgery. Ultimately, discuss this with your optometrist but that was my experience with Lasik. For the record, I plan on trying to get the surgery again before I retire from the military.

I have an astigmatism too. Also a part of why I'd like it. How's your glare from lights with night driving? Mine is terrible.

After the surgery I had pretty bad halo's around lights at night for about 6 months or so. Once the medicine eye drops were finished, my eyes readjusted and the halo's were almost nonexistent. That was a risk I was willing to take. I am now back in glasses with 0 halo's at night but that won't prevent me from getting the surgery again.

Nothing is wrong or bad about the C-17. Do not get me wrong. If I started my AF career on this jet, I wouldn't have an issue with it. I grew up on the analog AC-130U which is based on a hybrid between the old H2's and H3's. The C-17 is more computerized and takes the fun out of troubleshooting. Lot's of safety sally stuff to slow down work. I worked the -130's for a little over 10 years so it's what I know. I considered myself a SME on that airframe and to transition to a new airframe as an E-6 when everyone I interact with is expecting me to have the same SME skillset is frustrating. So again, nothing wrong with the C-17.

So this seems like a good place to ask this question . . .
For those of you who have worked places that have a formal process for applying for open positions within the company:
Typically there is some period of time in which the job is posted internally. If no suitable internal candidate is found, the job is then posted outside, so anyone can apply.
My question is, once the job is posted outside are people within the company still allowed to apply, or is their window closed?
I’m interested to see what various company policies have been.

    Thanks
    Don

They do that hear, and once its opened to outside, its outside only and they typically will just toss your application. But it's worth a shot. who knows.

I’ve never tried contacts and don’t think I could with all the grinding I do, it’s possible though.
