Went to the flats this past 2 weekends ago for the first time. I too have reserved the weekend of the 13th for camping.

Just wanted to say that on the way to the flats, it took us quite awhile. but when we were heading back out, the trail was much much shorter. After looking at your map, i have no idea which trail(s) i used. lol.

Probably just used the main trail, I felt like it was faster on the way back but I think that’s because you were kinda being careful stopping along the way etc. and on the way back we went faster.

It took us some time to get the camping permits. We ended up having to buy them at 12am! Just to get them I guess because there’s only 2 sites open right now and it’s 5 people Max with covid. But hearing news about going into “tier 3” maybe that will make the permits more available.

We are planning on taking the lower trail this time and trying some others out. My permit is for March 19th to 20th. Maybe you can get a day pass that day to wheel with us?

Would it be cool if I tagged along? I’m off those days and could get a day pass.

Hell yeah! I’ll let everyone here know if plans changed etc, if it rains or what not, and what’s going on.

I have tomorrow off and would like to go out to peacock flats. Anyone around want to go and try some of the side trails?
