quoted is my pics of how I mounted it. 2nd pic shows the rivets securing the cubby to the bed and the rivet nuts installed into the cubby to bolt the panel on.

Just reviewed...got it. Thanks for the clarification.

Just out of curiosity...did you rivet the pocket to the bed because you took it out to drill a hole for the wires and it wouldn't snap back in? Or for some other reason?

I'm going to try to avoid riveting the pocket to the bed if I can and looking for breadcrumbs as to why that was necessary.

I get the rivet nut thing now...wasn't aware of that product before...looks like I'm gonna need another tool. Unless I can find a neighbor who has rivet nut tool. I've got one for rivets, but not sure if that will work...haven't used it in a long time.

@plurpimpin do you find it fairly easy to access that cubby location to see the voltmeter reading, flip switches, etc.? That's my main concern with the location...

Last service before 100k ticks over. Also had the aftermarket alarm ripped out, fuckwads installed it with a 10A fuse taped into the harness 6” from the effing fuse panel. Found it because the module and bundle completely blocked access to the driver’s side door grommet. 8-10 t-taps left behind w/out the male spade connectors.

Look up diy rivnut install. All you need is a grade 8 bolt the same thread as the rivnut and maybe 1/2” longer, some washers to let the bolt spin and a star washer to inhibit the rivnut from spinning, a cordless impact driver, and about .8 seconds. That’s for aluminum rivnuts, for steel you probably need the most expensive tool available. For 1/4x 20 I used a 2” bolt.

I remember when doing mine that I had to enlarge the holes a little more than what the instructions suggested to get it to fit perfectly. Then used larger stainless steel washers on the backside.
Damn! I almost posted to warn you of this before you had the fender painted after drilling, but I figured you'd pre-fit it first

Went off roading for a couple hours today for science!! (Or to test the flex of my new rear shock relocate). And see how she rides empty with the heavy duty Deaver u402 stage 3 leaf springs

She’s a little bouncy without all the weight... but...

    That bitch flexy!

Turns out when she’s flexed this much⬇️... the frame is so twisted it’s actually hard to open and close the door, gets hung up on the access cab door.

Plus got her ass in the air a little bit.

And scuffed up the drive shaft a smidge.

Then managed to break off a valve stem, and had to do a trail tire swap. Good times!

That is super nice. Last thanksgiving I grabbed my 2015 SR5 V6 4x4 Access cab. Same color even. 47k on it, I paid similarly to you, $24k and some change. Clear title and all that. Came with a bull bar, weathertech inside and out. No camper shell tho, that's nice.

Like you, I was looking around for months. Was open to getting an access cab if I could find one. But mostly looking at 3rd gens. Decided to expand my search to 2nd gens, and low and behold it was sitting at a dealership 5 minutes away the whole time. Super happy with it.

Step 1 of my retrofit is complete...more to follow. I think I'll make a post after with some pictures and tips so others can do their own instead of paying someone else a small fortune.

I riveted the pocket in because the clips couldn’t hold it with all the added weight of the outlets and wires.

Then I tried double stick tape when that didn’t work. Then I tried to do rivet nuts in the bed so the bolts would hold the panel and pocket on but the cutout in the bed is so large in relation to the pocket that there wasn’t enough bed material for the rivet nuts to grip but there was just enough for 1/8” rivets so that’s why it’s riveted in and then the rivet nuts are installed around the flange on the pocket.

you’re installing fewer outlets so extra weight might not be as much of a problem. Midaswell try the clips first

as for outlet location I have a wedge camper and mostly installed the outlets to use when camping so no problem accessing them. Plus my side panels open so I can just reach the panel through there from the outside.

Makes me want to do another build with the d2s 5.0s. I actually had quite a bit of fun making my first set.

Get some good Phillips bulbs and you won't be disappointed! I went Extra fancy and paint matched the shroud my body color. Pretty cool against the black housing imo

If you look at it from the other side, it's tilted backwards, so much so that it will hit the a-pillar.

Thanks, this mod will be on hold as I do other things.
I'm having Dobinsons send me a new template. I already know it will be wrong but I'll use it as a starting point. I'm also getting a new fender.
