2nd gen Brake plug-and-play brake tap

In for one, add reverse and park, I think....just disconnected my rigged up third brake light 4pin connector, that was running off an adapter to the trailer hitch, so I could run the pop up off the 7pin and need to tap into the brake to reconnect.

 

I'd like the basic version please

@gibby11 @Toyomonkey59 I can do these with Turn signals, but to grab both right and left, you will need 2 of them. I am sorry I didn't explain that very well. I will do either right or left (the only difference is the color of the wire, so if you get it and change your mind, they are still perfectly usable). I will post this in the main post as well. For 2 of them it would be $65. One will have the majority of the taps you want, the other will only have the one turn signal, but I will make it with a 10' wire so it is long enough to go from one side of the truck, down under and over to the other side.

Everyone else, I will update the list. I plan on watching Justice League this weekend, and since it is roughly 5 days long, hopefully I can get quite a bit on these done

 

At that point would it be cheaper to run with my idea of making an inline plug to the OEM 7-pin trailer plug wiring?

 

You could probably make a plug to that for under $20, but it has to be plugged in to the trailer port all the time. I did something kind of like that as a prototype for the reverse tap for the Meso hitch light. It didn’t look that good IMO.

Unless you are talking about tapping behind the trailer plug? There isn’t really a way to do it in a plug and play manner. At least not that I’ve found.

 

Yeah, that solution wouldn’t work for me as it would get ripped off.

I’m talking in-line with the connectors behind the bumper where the 7-pin harness plugs in.

I was not aware the 2nd gens had a plug like that! I thought they were like the 3rd gens. I assume you have the tow package? Let me see what I can find out about that connector (*cough* @caribe makaira *cough*) and that might be a workable solution. If so, I’ll need a volunteer, so I’ll hit you up if you’re game?

I should have clued in to the 2015 part. My mistake. Not sure what it is but stands to reason if the package was an add on that it may be.

 

Ahh, you were thinking it is one of those 3rd gen sensor plugs It looks like it might be a trailer plug? I wish the 3rd gens had something like this. I believe it is part of the tow package add on though because that 4 port plug that looks oh-so-familiar is only on the second gens that have the tow package I think?

 

I’d want more evidence that it carries the signals but there is a chance. Seems a little odd that Toyota would eliminate that junction from 2015 to 2016 but if the hitch became a standard item maybe no reason for it.

Think you could unplug it and get some pictures of each side from different angles?
