How many keys did you get?

When you get 2 key fobs or 2 smart keys with your truck I think one of them is the valet . The only difference is the valet one cannot be reproduced .

 

If I gave the valet my fob with key removed, he can press "unlock" on fob, and it will unlock the bed lock, I believe.

 

Double check, every car I have had the trunk will not unlock if its been manually locked with a key. (ive never had a pickup with a power lock on the tailgate though)

This thread is frustrating because we don't know exactly what people mean when they use the word "fob." To me, a "fob" is something you use with a pushbutton ignition, and that you keep in your pocket while driving. (That is, a Toyota "Smart Key.") Other people seem to think that a "fob" is anything you use for a keyless entry (which would include an ordinary "H" key). We need to settle on exactly what is meant.

 

The dealer in NH told me I would only be getting 1 key fob and the other would be mailed to me due to the shortage.
When I picked it up I received 2 fobs and one tailgate/ glovebox key (not a valet key)

Guess I got lucky!

 

Thats odd. I bought my 21 three weeks ago and received both fobs. One with the mini key inside of it and one hooked to a full size key. 2021 TRD Offroad.

 

That's bizarre that Toyota would be so inconsistent in what is distributed with a vehicle.

I got two identical fobs with mini-keys inside and a dedicated valet key.

This was just over a month ago, also on a '21 OR.

 

Ya thats exactly what I got. Wasnt sure on the terminology. Seems all dealers arent consistent. Any one else have a pretty poor purchasing experience? The sales/finance writer acted like I slept with his wife after I told them I didnt want the extended warranty. Sales guy was awesome though.

 

All of a sudden my interest rate changed as well when I refused extended warranty. Mentioned he could get this then all of a sudden flipped a switch. I understand they work on commission but pushing these warranties so aggressively makes it seem like your product is junk. I got to the point where I said should I even buy this? You act like its going to have 1,000 issues once I leave the lot.

 

If you need keys or fob, try "Car Keys Express" if you have one near you. They program remotes and make keys for the dealers. It cost me $235.19 for programed fob and two keys or what they call a key now and only took 15 min. Auto start and tail gate lock and unlock fine. My truck only came with one remote. When I called Toy. they said around $245 (maybe higher-I think) for the fob, $ 75 to program and then I had to make an appointment to get it done.

I leased mine. So I guess the finance person knew better than to press me for extended warranties, tire warranties, underbody coating, fabric protectant, etc.

 

Dealer supplied me with 4 keys....2 for the truck itself and 2 for my locking gas cap.

I received 2 fobs with keys and a separate key, making a total of 3 with my 2020 OR.

 

I only have one remote key and one non remote key with my 21 Pro manual.

 

Mine comes with 2 FOBs with 3 keys.

I carry a MESO FOB and a key. The rest are stored in safe place.
