was climbing and got bumped off course in some tech, I opted to catch myself on large rock next to the trail instead of going down into the ditch and giving a 20 foot tall saguaro cactus a hug. Pretty deep and probably should’ve gone to urgent care but my dads in a job transition so no health insurance Currently. This will have to work. I used a piece of gauze and athletic tape to get off the trail. Bummer that it happened but honestly wasn’t feeling too great on the bike today and this is fairly low consequence compared to what could have happened later on in my ride.
It’s buttoned up enough I can go to the Northern Arizona mountain for some powder. 10 inches fresh snow expected tomorrow.
Part of the amazing thing about corona and high school for me is Wednesdays are “asynchronous”, aka teachers never assign work and we don’t have calls or In person class. I use this to get a good ride in or go get some turns in on the mountain.

haha I'm sure they think we suck. it will be interesting to see what the outcome of the investigation is...if there is one. Both sides of the story seem plausible. although to pull a knife when no one else pulls a weapon and you're group outnumbers the 'aggressor' sounds like an unreasonable escalation of force...but what do I know haha

Lol I was just kidding. Sorta...they suck.

that is a ridiculous story, from both sides though. No matter who is being honest the biker could’ve unclipped and waited to try the section.

    Fun topic for today.

    working out.

I work at a place with a fitness center, which is currently still closed for Covid, but hopefully will open back up.

I don’t have much desire to get back in a gym (I used to powerlift, lost it all, and it’s somewhat depressing to work out and know what I was but am not lol) BUT I know I need to workout especially on some non ride days.

that being said, I really only know how to workout as a power lifter. What are recommendations on lifts, plans, anything, etc to workout for things that would help with biking? I assume stretching, higher rep lower weight leg workouts, and just general cardio HIIT type stuff?

If you figure it out let me know haha. I think anything will help really but from what I have seen, squats and deadlifts are very popular (https://www.trainingpeaks.com/coach/dylanjohnsontraining#about as an example)

one of the best things I did was yoga. In general I feel better after yoga but the most noticeable thing was not feeling soreness on the bike. Like I was so comfortable on the bike.

Yeah see you basically mentioned all my assumptions. I don’t want to do yoga in a fitness center though haha.

haha I feel that, its easy at home too, I only do 15 minutes of yoga usually.

I've also seen a lot coordination exercises, like standing on a balance ball juggling. I've done exercises with a lot of body weight stuff doing single leg exercises. Anything to promote good balance from left to right. I also feel like at our level anything to promote fitness will help haha.
