Sorry for the lame subject matter, this wont be a riveting post....

I was installing mud flaps and some tube steps this weekend and I noticed that the center cap on my front passenger side wheel was missing. Disappointing being as the truck is 2 months old. My first suspicion is that someone just ripped it off. Anyone else experiencing these OEM center caps just falling off the wheels?

I agree with the others.... Even my stock steel rims, the center cap is on rock solid. Need a screwdriver to pop it off and even then it protests. I can't imagine it just falling off.
Being as you say it was/is passenger-side.. that tells me 'curb-side' ... So someone could hide and steal yer cap with not much chance of being seen...

yeah. thanks for the feedback. now to try to convince the dealer for a free one.

I am sure you guys know if the TRD wheels are one piece or if they have a similar center cap?

They can come off, not often but it happens. Plus who knows if a tech broke on trying to get it off and held it together with some epoxy or butyl rubber or something. I’ve seen it all

Make sure the cap is fully "snapped" on and completely seated.

An incomplete install could allow the cap to escape on its own to explore the ditch next to the highway.

Always check the "fingers" inside the cap for cracks or damage prior to installing.

Yea, I pulled another one off relatively easily...I didn't even realize it was a separate plastic piece until it went missing. Pretty cheap if you ask me. Should be one piece, integrated with the wheel/rim imo.

Really want the dealer to comp me one.

I wonder if the caps on my 2019 are the same on the 2021 even though the rim design is different.

There are a few different TRD wheel options. (Tacoma PRO, 4Runner PRO, Sport, Off Road, multiple years, etc.) I can tell you that the 2020+ Tacoma TRD PRO wheels come with a center cap but the tabs that hold it in place are super fragile. Like, embarrassingly fragile. These tabs have been the topic of other posts on this forum. Even with warning, I still broke three tabs installing one of my center caps. It's still attached after 7 months so I think yours likely didn't just fall off. I think the 4Runner PRO wheels have more sturdy center caps, but I don't have personal experience with them. I also can't speak to the 2020+ Sport or Off Road center caps.

Dealership replaced the center cap for me about a week ago. Thank you Sunny!

Looked out the window today and noticed the center cap on the driver side (opposite side) is now missing. WTF. Getting really frustrated. FML.

I wish it was one my punk friends, although I am willing to bet they are falling off due to improper installation. I took one of the rear ones off to see if it was difficult to remove and noticed a few of the plastic tabs were broken off and bent. Grrrr.
