I am trying to ride as often as I can, and also hate a trainer and don’t have one.

Just trying to figure out how best to utilize what I have at my disposal, and that isn’t just absolutely miserable like running lol.

Right. Most of us aren't training to compete so its best to find exercise that is the most enjoyable.

Hah. I've seen them on the interwebs. Definitely has a better ring. Gotta love the Karens down in p-town. (I can make fun of Provo because I used to live there...that's how it works, right?).

Better question is, what in world were you doing down in Provo????

You could do a skill based gym, kickboxing or BJJ.
Make new friends and pretty cool valuable knowledge. If I had to pick just one of those skills it would be BJJ.

I dislike running a lot lol most people that run have told me "I have knee/ankle problems" i've heard that the US military are starting to rethink sending people to go run a lot for conditioning. Have you tried an elliptical? I think those are incredible machines and its possible to watch an interesting show or youtube videos while on it. And ellipticals dont have the same impacts on joints like running. Or crossfit. The HIIT of crossfit probably translates more to biking

I really need to get off my ass and go join a bjj gym. I have a few friends that engage in different hobbies of mine where their bjj experience has really paid off in one way or another outside of the rolling aspect.

Might’ve missed the part that I said “at my disposal”. I have a free gym already, so don’t want to pay for one. Also I have participated in those class type gyms and did not like it.

Yeah and an elliptical at the office gym will probably be my cardio source on some days. I won’t do CrossFit or any of that stuff but I think I am going to implement more HIIT workouts in at the gym I have.

I have added pretty low weight dumbbell Romanian dead lifts to my daily routine. I find it really helps loosen up the hamstrings and overall just makes my legs and hips feel so much better. Saw the rec in some biking related video at some point in the past. Completely removed some knee pain I had been having. Tight hamstrings will mess shit up.

My gf loves crossfit and her endurance level is already at mine, and she just started biking.

Yeah it’s just simply not an interest of mine.

plus, I don’t want to associate with people who “kip”

It’s like sitting in a chair that your feet don’t touch the ground, so you rock them back and forth and claim you’re running. Yeah righttttttt

Haha don’t you blame your jokes on me!!!

I participated in some before and definitely learned some things. The biggest was that their cardio was way above mine as a power lifter.

They were also one of the first to really preach the power of good nutrition. You can spend all day in the gym, but you stuff a tube of thin mints into your mouth on the way home and its all for nothing.

One other option is circuit workouts at the gym.

I also have a free gym at work and got some workouts from a trainer that were tailored towards fitness for skiing/biking. The trainer built in a lot of circuit stuff where I started off with a warmup, then a heavy lift or two, then lots of more minor lifts done in succession to get the heart-rate up. I could try to dig those up and share them on here...

That hurts my soul. We would eat shit between lifts lol. We acted more like strongmen because we weren’t trying to compete haha. People would get so mad at you for eating gummy worms while squatting. Jealousy.
