Its alright. I already make fun of her exercise when she does high knees while slapping the top of her knee.

As a former bike racer who burned out and didn't touch a bicycle for over ten years.... well, I just go ride when I want to ride, and I go the pace I want to go, be it fast or slow.

I ride for fun. That’s first and foremost.

but I also realize I need to focus more on health and fitness than I do. The amount of rides I get to do, don’t help that side that much. Since sometimes it’s weeks without a ride.

insert dietary comments. Yes. Got it. Understand.

just simply trying to start incorporating some more physical fitness type stuff too and would like to also have the benefit of biking progression from the other fitness stuff.

That's what my KRAV MAGA (said in rednecky voice) training is for. Course that was a while ago, but I remember some of the basics of knife and blunt object deflection and control.

BJJ was fun, I did it for a while. I mean what kids didn't like wrestling growing up. At least now we're adding some razzle dazzle in the mix.

I feel bad for anyone who picks a fight on the playground with some of these kids trained in BJJ to where it's natural movement for them to detain you.

Oh, its an unfair fight for anyone to go against someone who knows what they're doing.

During our Krav period of instruction, they gave us all the basics in the morning with endless repetition, then allowed us to go open mat after lunch before back in the trucks.

My ego and my mouth wrote a check my skills couldn't cash against this cute little firecracker named Alex. She was maybe 100 pounds soaking wet, so I had 90+ pounds and a 12in+ on her. She put me in my place real friggin quick.

Yoga15 is awesome. The MTB course is great, as is the Bulletproof one. I just paid for the year, figured it would make me use it more.

For sure, after a point you just want to ride for fun not to get faster. But, it doesn't feel great when your friends smoke you on climbs. And strength and flexibility are a great way to fend off injury. I'm so over getting hurt, almost every damn year. At 45, those injuries take way longer to recover from (if ever).

Being in a similar situation, I find this most important on the psychological side of riding. It's nice to ride by feel without looking at stats or concerned about fitness or race prep. I still use a Garmin/Strava, but its more so for collective data than determining the goals for individual rides.

I do enough wannabe Crossfit inspired workouts for work. I do feel benefits from yoga and pilates that seem to counteract the constriction and tightening from everything else.

It’s a gymnastic movement adopted by and now associated with CrossFit by the masses.

Pound for pound, gymnasts are some pretty athletic and stout folks. Not saying all the training they do is perfect, but they’re doing something right.

Man better tap out, sadly all I ever rolled with was dudes.. It's not very satisfying having your crotch near another mans head and vice versa

Strava is only for keeping up with mileage for me, I find it's not accurate enough just using the iphone tracking to be worth anything. Hell even the group rides where we all ride the same trails Strava can have the median at say 15 miles with the high end being near 16 and low end being near 14. So strava without a true GPS device is very inaccurate.

And that's where my ego came into play... "No, I got this!"

From an outsider's point of view: *looks like that scene from No Country for Old Men*
